OK basically my 91 Breadvan is going to be my daily drive. I bought a real cheap Beat HU of here to do me as there's no radio in the car and there's no point spending big. It's the sort of HU that the OEM plugs fit straight into although it came with it's own plugs with wires to do a fresh install. My issue is that once I remove the key the HU's memory is wiped and as far as I can see the old trick of swapping the red and yellow wires around won't work as there's no harness to do this on. Is there any solution to this problem as it's doing my head in today!!!

sounds like youve wired your permanent live to a ign live , check what colour does what and change it to permanent live

All I did was plug the oem harness plugs into the HU no wiring at all??

dont think the std polo is normal comapred to a modern car , it probably has just the permanent live

id imagine you need to either join the headunit ign and permanent together so it will always work , or run an ign live from elsewhere

I see so splice the red and red/brown together??

doubt its brown

the ign live and perm live on the head unit side both need putting on the red on the cars loom ...or run a extra ign live from somewhere else

id imagine headunit colours will be red and orange /yellow but please check before trying it

Thanks for the pic but when I saw it in the Haynes manual I still couldn't understand it lol...

Here pics of my loom and the thing that came with the radio...I think i might just wire it direct to the battery with an in-line fuse but like the handiness of just pulling the key and it keeping it's memory...
