Dudes, mate of mine needed some advice, he's slammed his car too much and now he can't use it in most areas CID of bumps etc. problem is stock springs are very hard to get hold of so is there a method of raising car height? Was told by someone you can get a set of blocks, anyone heard or used? Ta

usually suspension thats 'slammable' is adjustable? if not then he'll probably have to buy OEM shocks and springs from a factors.

tbh unless its rare or very old, springs are not that hard to come by.

go to scrappers pick up standard springs, done

Right well firstly the two betters amongst us have both won £5 each! lol Yes they have been cut but mainly due to the scarcity of the springs.

It's a 280zx, and it's mine.. there is no friend

check American ebay but postage is not cheap.

Man up and watch for bumps

Best thing you can do is go to a breakers and just buy a set of stock springs

Or you should have done it right the 1st time and use'd Springs and Shocks Or Coilovers

there's nothing wrong with cutting springs if it's done correctly it will have no effect on the safety of the car or the longevity of the spring.

Well, in my mind there's two options. Order a set from the USA and pay a shit load for postage and import tax.

Or, find out the coil diameter, length, no. of coils and spring rate; then try find some springs that fit the bill from a more common car. (Possibly a 300zx?)

I've cut springs on tonnes of cars and know people that do it everyday, never heard of any adverse effects.

I've experienced them yeah. Ride quality is shocking, like bone crushing bad.

But the main problem is that because you're only stiffening up the section of the spring you put the rubber in the rest of the spring is left with alot more strain then it's used to taking and it will slowly but surely cause the spring to become naturally more compressed and so you'll be back to square one.

tbh your only option is to fit them and save up for new springs asap as they will affect the handling and therefore the safety of your car.

jack it up and jam blocks on rubber or wood in the gaps between the springs...................
