looking at a Golf - advice please?

Featured Replies

hi guys, I know this is a polo forum but was hoping for some advice.

Am looking at a 1994 1.4 8v golf on Ebay.

Now I know the fuel consumption isnt the best on these but is there anything else to look out for on them that may go wrong?

The advert says its been recently serviced and looked after as 'I will not let my family drive something unsafe or unreliable.'

its got 108000 on the clock and the seller wants £590 for it with a years MOT and Tax. Also states for £40 extra will put a set of 'alloys with reasonable tyres' on it.

What do you guys think?

Thanks, S :)

rust is only major thing. if its got mot, it drives ok, and doent make any odd noises, it should be reet

Painfully slow. But not much to go wrong with them. Has it got PAS and 5 speed gearbox?

I can cope with painfully slow... Got a heavy lump of an astra at the moment!

Don't want anything quick - just want something cheap to insure and tax and reliable.

Thanks guys - I'll ask the seller about PAS (not bothered bout it really - never driven a car with it) and 5 speed gearbox
