This is what stripping your car does!

So yeahh... Normal time for my polo from 0-60 is around 13-14 seconds...

So i took all my seats out bar the driver one, and everything else in the boot.

Here is the result:

- A 0-60 of 10 seconds! :D (run starts at 0:04 and ends at 0:14)

Sorry for the quality (shows much better on facebook? :S)

Can't see the needle, but i also find it hard to believe you gained 3-4 seconds in a 1.0 6n simply by removing the seats...

i doubt you can get a 1.0 to match the 0-60 time of a standard valver by removing the seats

Turn the screen brightness up or something :p

Well this was a dead straight road (seemingly level), and i've got it on camera sooo, dunno how i can prove it more.

Take it down the strip & film it ! Simples !!

Did you time it to 65mph on the speedo as if its anything like the other Polos i've been in the speedos are usually 10% out at least.

Matt

Sounds like you need one of these to keep that lightweight on the road properly - Dan Knight specials strut brace (pics courtesy of DK Racing):

My 6n 1.0 8v is pretty much completely stripped out. The only difference I noticed was the amount of noise. Happy days if you managed to find 3 or 4 seconds though!

?? Why would i post this if it wasn't 10 seconds? Whatever tbh guys, i know what my car did, it's on camera...

visit to santa pod i thinks and we see what you get

sorry mate, but a 10kg weight loss aint gonna gain you 4 seconds...

Hope to see you at santa pod then. I will personaly give you a race, and if you win, i'l run down the strip naked.

Saying that, il probably beat you running anyway.

Even if it had a 1.3 GT engine it STILL wouldnt get near 10seconds.

And its quite funny, as the back seats in mk4's weigh nothing.

i stripped my 14.8v on the weekend hit 0-60 in 6 seconds and topped out at 200mph :ninja:

worst load of bullshit ever posted. sure you werent looking at the rev needle?

x2

no way!! even if you strip out the interior completely you'd be getting 15-16 secs if your lucky! the standard time to 60 is 18.5.

and to say your 1 litre is as fast as a polo with twice the power and the same weight is ridiculous.

To conclude, without accurate timing equipment, over a set distance, there's too great a margin for error.

Like i said, i don't even give a shit what you guys think tbh... It's on camera :? what actually more do you need? I just videoed my run from 0-60 on the speedo and got that.

What you don't understand is, whilst it's on camera, it isn't an accurate means of timing your car from 0-60. You could have started the clock 2 seconds into the run, or stopped it too early or late. There's so many possibilities for error.

tbh dude, you cant even see the 0-60 run on the guages.

Plus, even common sense should tell you that a 45-55bhp polo wont be anywere near as quick as one with 100bhp (6n 16v).

If your daft enough to believe yourself, fair play and brag to your mates. Just dont go racing any mobility scooters.

Yeah but the thing that everyone is trying to tell you is that the speedo is quite in-accurate and not dependable.

The time it took for the needle to get to the 60mhp may be 10 secs like you claim, but this doesn't reflect the actual time is took the car to get to 60mph.

If you did a run with proper timing equipment, you would see it still takes ~ 13-14 seconds till your car reached 60mhp.

My rocco says I'm at 60mph in about 8~9 seconds

...But it went from the zero on the speedo, to the 60 on the speedo (yes in mph) in 10 seconds............... When i stop revving in 3rd that's when it hits 60, even so, if it aint 10 seconds and 12 instead, it's still quick.

No its not.
