I'm looking at some pressed plates but dnt want the blue sirens in my rear view mirror all the time!!

Are they legal or is there anyway to make them legal?

had some on a c2 i had mate,french pressed ones, i never got stopped for them but i think it was because they where still reflective?maybe the non reflective ones are the illegal ones?

What is the likely penalty for gettin stoped wiv them can it be a 3 pointer or just a producer or rubber stamp? Ill have to c if there reflective if they are i may just get away wiv it lol

i got pulled once when i had german paltes on my polo but the policeman said he couldn't book me because the letters are the right size. he said the only reason he pulled me over was because the camera in his car couldn't register them.

apparently its a trick the polish have found with stolen or illegal cars, that if they put foreign plates on them they don't register on the police's computers. so theres more chance of not getting noticed.

the police are trying to crack down on it by pulling those cars over

Mate they are completely legal if you buy them from the place I just linked you lol.

i got some on ebay, they're fully legal, correct fonts, sizes, spaces, reflective and manufacturers mark.. only £22.

my mate got pulled for some pressed german ones and given a piece of paper with all requirements and they conform to all.

There was a guy on E38 last year who still got a fine for the supposedly 100% legal ones so be careful. If you get a copper who hates modded cars he won`t care what you say

I had a set made at Edition`s show maybe five years ago, I ran them for a bit but got bored and took them off. I have a private plate which is the only reason I got them made, you will loose your`s when you sell the car. If ure worried you could just run one on the front and a legal plastic plate on the rear, I did this for ages. No copper is gonna turn round and come after you, even if they do you can go down a maze of side streets. Most people get pulled when the cops are behind them and see it on the back

I've got german pressed plates on my 6n2, even with the front number plate in the windscreen.

Pressed plates are legal if your lettering is UK font (size & bold) and that you have the company name under the registration of the plate, although if u do get the german lettering you can get the GB on the side as it looks less obvious to some coppers.

Also, its down to luck as well - where you are and whos around at the same time to be honest

i had some 100% legal pressed plates from europl8, the first night i drove my car after i passed my test the police followed me and pulled me over claiming my number plates were ilegal yet they were reflective, the lettering was the right size and spacing which he even admitted and they had all the legal marks, and the car passed its MOT with them about 5 days before but he wasn't having it. then they tried to do me for no insurance but i had just insured my car earlier that day so it didn't come up on their system. luckily i just got a producer for it, then 6months of driving the car around i had been followed by police a number of times and never got pulled since!

Bet they put a marker on your car. I hear (this might not be true) but when they have pulled and tried to get you on something but fail, they sometimes put a marker on your car to not bother pulling you unless something is obviously wrong. Other wise you can call it police harassment!

So, what do you reckon's worth saying to the copper who pulls you? I've got some pressed 'uk legal' plates on order and if i get pulled, i don't want to act dumb but i don't want to act cocky by telling them it is all legal either.

Did you yourself mention that the typeface was the correct size etc?

I got pulled the other day, he looked at my plates and said they were illegal, i said "sorry sir, when i brought them the guy said they were legal and i passed MOT so figured they were" lol he then said to me that it needs the stamp on it etc... But he said as long as the font looks near enough similar police aren't too fussed only if its illegally spaced etc..
