also just got my g40 block back form the machine shop last week, all nicely bored out to 77mm 8)

On the hunt for a clutch atm, then the crank, flywheel and clutch are off to the machine shop to have the crank balanced and flywheel lightened and balanced.

got to do a little work on the block then i can drop the pistons in!!!

So hopefully i will keep the thread updated when stuff happens. only thign thats slowing it down is the money side of things (same old excuse lol)

I am building this a kinda of a learning curve, teaching my sell about the chargers, and boost pressures etc.

i'm a mechanic so, theres no hard ship in the build itself as well :)

bought myself a paddle clutch for it from C.G Motorsport.

i've had the crank dynamicly balanced.

oh and picked up my new bottom end bearings, from the VW dealer, for the crank and pistons :D

just in the prosess now of painting the block the i'll order my bottom end gasket set and it on with re-assembling the bottom half, then on to the top half :D

i know i have been taking my time with the build, but money keeps going to other things :( but like i said this is now back on track :)

few pictures to keep you lot in the frame

got a major step done this weekend, bought a car, and moved the whole project down to my unit, which took most of the day.

its a 1988 mk2 Polo coupe.

Bought it as a half finished project with all the body work done!!! came with full roll cage and a plumbed in fuel cell and uprated fuel pump. Its recently had a full respray. got a mk3 polo dash in, which looks better i find.

the fuel and brake pipes have been routed up inside the car insted of underneath, as the last owner was going to build it as a track car.

Its got custom made brand new powdercoated coilovers all round, powdercoated rear axle and all new brakes fitted on the rear.

All i have got to do really, is build it back up, and get the Eaton engine built up and drop that in.

I am throwing the idea about of fitting perspex rear quarter and rear windows.

couple of pics, just rubbish phones pics atm

I'm going to be keeping my eyes on this project. I'm building a powerful new G40 engine and haven't decided if I'm keeping my eaton yet or not.

Hmmmmmm....... I'm drooling right now lol. looks awesome!!!

Lucky guy having the right shell, the right parts, the right tools and the right place to do it all in, very jealous! Winter driveway conversions FTL  i'd love a nice big warm unit! Good luck with this, should be pretty good fun when its running.

Loooking good, out of intrest how much did the bearings set you back?

Cheers people! Should be going down the unit saturday, to sort out the boxes of parts etc, and make a shopping list for it.

The bearings off the top of my head cost around £200sumthing plus vat.

looking forward to seeing this

Looking like a great project! Don't drag it out though, i want more progress/pics,

Love it mate 8-)

Cant wait to see this progress

Glad to see someone else putting a py engine in a mk2. What are you going to do about the intercooler setup? Should be a animal when finished. Keep up the good work mate.

I bought a monster of an inter cooler off a mate. It fits perfect behind the bumper where the last owner cut a htge hole in the front panel. I'll do a mock up tomorow and get a picture

Wow them bearings are more than i expected!

Been looking at the hone finish, dosn't look to have much crosshatching, tho it could jus be the angle/light of the pic.
