Change the internals, make it a 1.6 then run it on bike carbs, that should be good for about 130bhp if not more

What bhp would it be running if i just had

decat

manifold

induction

remap

what bhp would it be running then?

Probably not enough to warrant the money spent :p I'm sticking one in my mk3 at the moment and the only reason I'm running webers is cause the wiring is easy!

Its impossible to say. How well is the engine worn? what parts are you using? Are they good quality? What 'remap' are you actually talking about? If you want a car with big bhp, go buy one. If you want to tune a car, tune it. But if your chasing numbers, your doing it all wrong. you will not get massive numbers without big bucks. Its a polo after all.

thanks, i was just wondering on a general basis how much it would be

thanks for the reply anyway

just wanted to know if it changed it much etc

would expect more than 130 out of that

id hope for for more than that but i was being safe to avoid the "don't be a dick" comments, skodaboy got 129 using original injection so id reckon 140-150 wouldnt be out of the question, guess we could ask mikey...

Can't see the rest making much more, you'll be lucky to top 115 without some serious fettling

with valve train work, cams, pistons and some machining you should be able to hit 160 or more

1.6 bottom end (oversquare not long stroke) with equivalent work should see in excess of 200hp

Bolting a 1.6 bottom end on and mapping with carbs or injectors I can't see it making much more than 140hp

I'm hoping for around 150 out of mine. 160 would be ace.

1.6 bottom end

bikecarbs

re-ground cams

stainless 4 branch, decat

Thats what i was hoping for when i started this project, then i noticed the engine had had a new water pump/clutch/cam belt kit etc and decided to leave it at 1.4 for a while and try it next year, give me summat to do next year then!

I'm hoping for around 150 out of mine. 160 would be ace.

Why is it? Its the exact same prediction i have for mine and its based on other actual figures

well i have made 140 at the wheels with a 1.4 16v, cammed, head port and polished, bike carbs, full stainless system :)

Yup, I've gone off skodaboys 129bhp with standard AFH injection and a stainless 4 branch

I think 20bhp from cams and bikecarbs is the opposite from optimistic.

mine made 129.6 on the rollers at jkm motorsport in portsmouth, as the above says, it is literally just a bog standard polo gti bottom end (avy) with an unmodified 16v polo (afh) head bolted on top with a ebay 4-2-1 stainless raceland manifold (which i've modified/adapted slightly to fit in the skoda engine bay) and a 2" exhaust system from a diesel engined felicia pickup which i had to chop about a bit, it even has a cat on there too, using the gti plenum-type intake manifold too which i've modded to take a cable operated throttle body.... i must say though, don't scoff at plenum fed manifolds. they do have the potential to make power figures just as high as individual runners (like on a bike carbs setup), i've got a ported head and an intake manifold which i've had extrude honed which i've also modified to accept a obdII vr6 throttle body (65mm in place of the afh engine 60mm throttly body) waiting to go on when the pickup is back from the paint shop next week, we'll see how it goes then!!

What cams are you using?? am i right in thinking that, that would translate to about 160 at the fly then??

have you got a thread on your car?? as id love to read up on it

have a gander at this thread from post 30 onwards

felicia 16v transplant on briskoda

I wouldent want to put more than 150bhp through those conrods in the Afh engine there's not much meat on them to take crazy power like sort of 140 -160 may be your limit before they bend & exit via the side of the block

think thats why most of us these days have gone for the 1.6 16v AFH/AVY hybrid conversion ;)
