i can use a vw screw driver for the brake disc grub screw. infact i stripped the entire interior from my mk2 saloon with both 10/13mm spanner and screwdriver (both in which can be found in the standard vw tool kit.

but all that mikey from memory (while on the throne, which can be known for apiphanys(cant spell)) well done! haha

Under-steering maybe?

Mk1-3 Polo's DO NOT handle well unless you have a subframe. It's not an opinion, it's a straight fact.

Mines more squrimy than understeery. If it understeers its nothing that a quick throttle lift doesn't sort. Yes they understeer if you just keep your foot down, but a driver who does that isn't a good driver.

unless you decided to liven things up and do it on purpose, its hilarious watching you friend (just the one, no rear bench) shit themselves

Polo - The poor man's Golf

Golf - the vw for people with no ability to think independantly.

I just don't think that rolls off the tongue as well as mine.

Polo - The poor man's Golf

Which is good because it leaves spare money for legal tires

pity her polo didn't leave any change for a driving licence or insurance

She got made look stupid on this forum for the 3rd time this month, yet still keeps comin back hahahaha

IBTL :shock::lol:

its ok..polo people get alittle up set over this subject.....

this thread wasnt exactly going to end in smiles.

here is my input...

we can only compare cars in stock form...once there modified wheres the limit??..then regardless of the car, make, mode it becomes a piece of braced no flex metal

I've owned plenty of golfs and polos all from the same years....mk2 coupe's,breadvans,mk2 golfs,mk1 jettas,mk1 caddys,mk4 polos..and as fair as I'm aware the only cars that were decent were the ones based on a golf chassis....mk1,2,3 polos lets face it may aswell be made from cheese....crap chassis design.(FULL STOP.)

Its all abit like the boxter/911 debate.....boxter owners what you rearlly want is the 911 or il translate polo owners what you really want is a golf...bigger,better build quality, better engine choice, better chassis, better interior just generally a better car..

serious...and you baught a scriocco  .

I've owned 2 Mk3 GT's and i think i prefer them over my mk2 gti. Had a mk1 too but i find them hard to sum up, crap brakes, look good and handle ok. Handling wise the mk2 is far superior as it has a proper chassis and robust running gear unlike the polo with the chicken leg bottom arms and an anti-roll bar that holds them strieght. All results in massive understeer when hard cornering. But as said with the right set up you can get a polo cornering just as good.

I enjoyed razzing about in my last gt more than the golf, you can chuck it about and have a laugh. I wish i kept it.. tax is cheaper, insurance is pittence and parts 10 a penny! not alot goes wrong with them, those 3F's are brilliant engines. Plus the look on people faces when you have just raped them off the lights aha

You can do loads more to a mk2, but is less more with the polo? I think so

But the golf isn't the best car in the world, in most of it's forms it isn't even the best car in it's class so any one that feels they need to drive the 'best' car wouldn't even buy a golf

As I said earlier I've owned and loved the mk2 golf (mostly in the 16v form mind) but I now own and drive a polo, through choice, not through some misguided feeling that I need a golf to make me feel like a man or so I can look down on any one that chooses to drive a polo.

Any one trying to act superior because they own a golf really needs to give their head a wobble, you own an old cheap euro box ffs not a high end luxury barge

exactamundo that bloke in the mk5 1.4 golf i completely obliteraited from the lights on my way home from work thought he was better than me,

until the valver kicked in yo!

neither is the porsche so i dont quite see where your coming ffrom i was just comparing the 'debate'..

and dont think i am jon...where the hell have you vanish to anyways?..

Later golfs are surprisingly unreliable! In one trip my golf let me down more times than my polo ever did in 3 years.... :/

Just because i drove around with no licence for a while don't make the polo better...?

stick to the subject please.

Nah, in all fairness I absolutly adored my mk3 breadvan but it's funny as fuck seeing how all you little polo lads get so worked up.

My point is you say that polo owners really want a golf because it's the 'better' car, but it's not always about which car is better, if it was then vw would never of been able to sell a single mk3 golf lol. Contrary to popular belief polo owners don't cry themselves to sleep at night wishing they were successful enough in life to own a golf :?

to say things like the polo is the poor man's golf is just retarded, they are in the same kind of price range

i prefer the eqeustrian sport to the funny trouser sport

ah..well they are..its the same with all cars..you have the high end hatch golf, megane, astra e.c.t and then you have the smaller cheeper ones..polo,clio,corsa...if money was no object you would go for the golf, astra, megane because its thr better car...nothing wrong with a mk3 golf.

and if you think there the same price range have you been inot a vw dealership lately?

golfs look like a fat bird after a few pints too many
