if he took the vehicle as part of a clearance and has proof then he hasnt done anything wrong

if its stolen,then it isnt handling stolen goods has he has proof/receipt of having the vehicle by means of a clearance.if it is stolen the police can seize the car but not prosecute him

as for being exported,the same as above applies,except that it could be siezed by customs and excise,if they decided to???

he has made it clear that he doesnt have the paperwork ect so a winning bidder buys at there own risk.and as guy said it is a binding contract

So if what you say is true it would be easier to register this polo because if the police can get intouch with the registered keeper then the dvla can.

This may seem like a silly question but has your mate just tried applying to be the registered keeper? Not sure how it works with exports but any one can apply to be the registered keeper of any car and if the dvla can't contact the current one they will give who ever is trying a log book. He might have to apply for one in the county that it came from tho? But at least then when they try to contact the registered keeper they can, because it will be your mate. Just an idea not sure if it would work on a export.

he was,nt even aware of the exportation or the lawsthat surround it in the first instance he has changed his storry about five or six times and the listing details have chnage at least three times to my knowledge also he stated that the owner cannot be contacted and that he couldnt get any relevant paper work he also said he was selling it for a woman he does house clearance for and she was out of the country in australia its way to dodgy the buyer will not be able to re register this vehicle with out the registered keepers address for confirmation of sale i,ll assure you that is fact my mate is absolutley screwing over his camper affair the only thing this car is good for is breaking and at that the engine and any stamped parts cannot be used in another car as about the only thing you could do with this apart from that would be to change the plates for plates of a u.k registered car but to do that would be stupid as thats ringing motors

ATTENTIO ATTENTION all club polo users and dubbers alike i have just spoken to mr richard wright for all intense of purpose he has confirmed this to me verbally on the phone he has no paperworkor letters of consent for the vehicle the owner is off his nut apparently and has gone pimping young girls in thailand yyyyyyyuk dirty perv the lady who he works for he has her name and address however she is out of the country on holiday at present and retrurns on the 16th march he is not sure whether she knows where the owner is or is in contact with him therefore it may not be possible to obtain consent to sell the vehicle i have explained the red tape and the rigamorole to him and he is now understanding of the situation he has sated to me that he does,nt want to encraoch the law nor dopes he want to sell the car under those circumstances so what he is going to do is this and i have advised him to this effect he will try and contact the woman concerned who was the owners carer and ask if she can obtain relevant docs etc and written consent if this happens he would rather sell as a whole and keep the car alive however if he cant he will be notifying people on this forum only that he will be breaking this car to be used for spares he has also said he will post up on this thread apologizing for the confusion and the fact that he has changed his mind so many tiimes and with it his story and as he put it to me he,s had so much hassle he,s nearly given up with it and its done his head in i explained it will do and probably this would be the best course to take I've also advised him that should he decide to break it imsure he will wake on the first morning after to a day of answering pms / request for parts and also i think its fair to add if he cant provide docs etc to sell then this would be in the best interests of the dub community and the car and himself plus he will probably sell most of the stuff and make more money this way and in a shorter space of time and possibly be in a better standing should he come accross other vehicles during his time and work he has told me he will post up on this thread to the like . i must say actually he seems to be a decent type of bloke but time will tell soz about my nonexistent punctuation before you all say it just take a deeper breath its not my forte

i never at any time mentioned that he had stolen the car i only suggested he might have due to him being evasive with answers to the questions plus if you look at the answers he has given others to enqiuries he is casting asspersions on himself by the answers he has given and keep twisting things around now weve had a lenghthy chat i think he,s a lot clearer in his mind as to how to go about it and i hope he takes the advice given for the goodwill of anybody concerned the car and himself plus as i said he,s into clearance if he does the right things now then it will stand himin good stead for future finds etc and as i said to him sometimes as much as it is a shame its also good for the vw scene to let cars such as this and there respective parts be re cycled and live on in other peoples cars and also he will no doubt get applauded for his actions instead of slated and making people extremely suspicous I've been honest with the chap and hopefully when he gets a chance he will post up on here so as to clear up the situation and repost when he decides what to do and as i pointed out he,d probably get more breaking it if it comes to that so everyones a winner that way any way lets wait and see when he posts up what he,s going to do if he is genuine then I'm sure he will post if he isn,t then obviously he,ll just carry on and try selling its one thing having written consent its another having verbal consent as thats just hearsay and when i pointed that out he tended to agree with me he said that people were doing his head in but as i corrected him by saying doing what he was doing was doing his own head in no one else is they are just taking precautions which any vw enthusiast would ..................................i think and hope he,s got the message anyway

Due to the realisation of the amount of documentation i will need to sell this car legally and correctly i am removeing the car from auction to collect the correct documentation if for some reason this becomes too much or impossible for me i will advertise as spares and buyers can remove parts from the car the dates i find out if the car will be broken up will be some time between march and april will keep you informed thanks for all your commentsa makes me feel so populer lol :-D

by the way the reson my spelling appears to be bad is because I'm used to spelling sort hand text as i didnt waste my time in school i set up my own bussnes from the age of 14 and is still going strong to this day I'm no crack head and dont sit on my arse waitin to be payed by the goverment thanks again for makeing me feel extra special

My Dad bought a 406 estate a year or two back and the nob end who he bought it off sent the log book off as exported. My dad had to take it for a VIC and essentially 'import it'.

all i can say richard is that it did sound dodgy as fook still does in parts but thats down to people being scammed and being cautious, anyway thanks for having the melons to come on and explain whats happening! :)
