Carl's 6n2 *FOR SALE"

Featured Replies

Hello, I'm Carl and this is my thread on my 1.4 polo firstly let me start by telling you i know nothing about cars and this is a massive learning curve being my first car and wanting to mod it a little.

Model: MK5/6n2

Engine: 1.4 8v S Petrol

Suspension: Standard > FK AK Coilovers

Brakes: Standard

Wheels and Tyres: 13" Steels

Exterior Styling: GTi Grille, Beesting Aerial

Interior Styling: Vr6 Seats

ICE and Security: Standard

The first thing i wanted to do was get the big scuffs sorted alot of these were just through the top layer so my gf's brother kindly buffed these out for me!

Before:

During

After:

img0043qu.jpg

So i was happy with the result got most of the big scratches out there are still a few there but i will get those sorted in the summer. The next thing i wanted to do was to make it look a bit classier so i bought a cheap set of FK AK coilovers from ebay and a honeycomb grille.

Got these fitted:

Back lowered slightly haven't bothered dropping the front any more waiting to put new wheels on and coilovers to bed in first.

Realised i did not have an aeriel so i got a a cheap little beesting looks pretty good i think just a bit annoying how it doesnt sit flush.

The next thing for me to do was replace the grubby seats, they were comfortable but made the car look dated and on the money i would of spent on cleaning them i decided to put it into a new set of seats. I bought some vr6 seats and stripped the car and fitted those. I will upload the pics later as it was done yesterday but weather is a bit crappy at the minute.

Once i had got these out i gave the inside a good hoover out i maged to find a green crayon and 65p so its a win win situation already

photo0224r.jpg

The interior i'm putting in is a vr6 interior bought from the classifieds on this forum i managed to pick these seats up at a decent price so I'm well chuffed i think it looks alot better than before, plus the pics don't really do it justice.

The wheels i bought were a set of second hand 15" Rondell's i'm not 100% what style they are but i have been told they are 0058's they are silver with a polished and laquered rim. These are in decent condition a few curbs and a bit of laquer peel but that will be fixed in the summer when i get the middles painted the same colour as the car and polish the rims up more.

photo0216wm.jpg

The center caps on the wheels looked oxidised and a but crappy so i wanted to get these sorted as i wasn't happy having these on i think they brought the quality of the look of the wheels down.

photo0231s.jpg

I gave them a quick rub down ready for a face lift

photo0235p.jpg

Found some nice Woflsburg centercap stickers which i thought would add a nice touch.

photo0237m.jpg

I was chuffed to bits with the look of them so i clipped the centers back in these will be going on this weekend and as soon as the weather pics up they will get a nice refurb and a lick of paint.

Looking good mate

Weather has been crap and i'm still waiting for the adaptors for my flush fit valves to arrive so can't put the wheels on yet so a bit naffed of as I'm gagging to get them on :(. When the weather cleared up a bit i decided to debadge the bonnet.

Think that looks alot cleaner, i have also had the thermostat changed as this was faulty and my car was cutting out while idle this seems to have fixed that problem.

Future plans are new headliner a set of angel eyes headlights and maybe a decent inductionkit(is there one for the 1.4 8v?)

Crappy weather again this weekend :( wanted to clay the whole car and give it a good polish but its been raining nearly all weekend. As soon as the sun came out i fitted my wheels and dropped the front down a further 25mm. Still not happy with how low it is but i was running out of light and time so i left it at that and i will tackle it again next weekend. The wheels are on really want to get the centres painted gunmetal asap and polish the lips up on them think that will look sick but for the minute I'm happy with the the wheels and direction the car is going in.

I would like to go lower but there are lots of speed bumps around me so it would be asking for trouble I think. When the weather gets better I might drop it another 20mm I think. Unfortunately the clutch is on it's way out so that's what my money will be going on this month :( :(

What to you think to me spraying the roof strips matte black? And apart from lowering more does anyosne else have any ideas?

smooth bumpers of reg plate and all bump strips

smooth boot lid of handle and vw badge

if you wanna go the whole 9 yards...

get rid of the door handles too :) smooth it all off and have em on a key fob opener

those are my plans anyway lol dont listen to all these geeks (no offense...everyone) tellin you to lower it,

as long as the wheels are nice and snug in the arches its all good :)

Not done a lot since the last update so decided to splash some $$$ i wanted to put a HID kit in but heard they will be, becoming illegal so i have bough[t a full set of Xenon upgrade bulbs these are:

* 501 - Philips Blue Vision Bulbs

* H7 - Philips Diamond Vision Bulbs

* H1 - Spectrum Ultra Blue Bulbs

This was the colour of the standard bulbs(obviously sidelights only but they are the same colour as main/dipped)

photo0449.jpg

And after the upgrade

I was shocked and happy the result was so good i didn't expect a light that white.

I have been looking for a set of grey/cream seats for a while and some popped up on the classifieds so i went to have a look on friday and ended up coming back with a nice set of Golf MK3 leathers, they need some attention but i think they make the interior look sooooooooooooooooo much better as it matches the door cards. Thinking of doing the headliner and abc pillars in a matching suede material now. Pics:

haha nice!!! what colour did you get? i'm suprised you didn't keep the seats then lol!?

Hi mate,

When replacing your bulbs did you need all 3 sets of bulbs.. * 501 - Philips Blue Vision Bulbs, H7 - Philips Diamond Vision Bulbs, H1 - Spectrum Ultra Blue Bulbs... I know obviously need sidelights and headlights.. Will probably do mine on the weekend and wondering if i needed all 3??

Thanks

Not 100% sure what you mean mate, i changed all of my bulbs because i wanted it to look white and if i left standard sidelights it puts a yellow tinge in it if you get me? you can change one set then another a week later etc but you wont get the white colour if you have standard sidelights in. Also you don't need those specific bulbs you can get any upgraded as long as they are legal but i reccomend the Philips Diamond Vision they are by far the best the others arent as white and tbh the sidelights arent as white but the Diamond Visions jst pump out a white glow that looks awesome.

So basically if you change your H7 and not your 501 you will get a slight yellow tinge, so sidelights and dipped i would go for and then when you can change main. But you don't have to change them all at once they are just upgraded bulbs and can be chopped and changed the same way as standard.

Has this helped mate or have i completely missed the point?

Yeh thanks alot mate.. Just didn't really know my way around changing headlights.

Cheers
