yes you would require a g40 engine and all the ancilleries to make this swap viable!

Look how long philj's lasted

not long then?

better of waiting and going for a proper g40?

Essentially, yea, phils lasted 2miles I think

Wasn't Phil's a 1.0 head though? I thought some compression chamber was in the G40 head, meaning that whilst Phil's had too high a compression ratio, this one would have a far more suited one.

I dunno much about G40's but its worth checking what the comp ratio would be,because with a standard pulley etc it shouldn't be too much for the weak 1.0 internals. It'd need mapping i should think,so it fuels for about 80-90bhp.

Bit of a risk,Phil was just having a laugh and didn't do it properly - and before it blew up,it was bloody shifting!

I thought all mk3 heads were the same?

i think the compression ratio is 8:1 although i may be wrong, i did read it quite late last night.

i think with a suitable map, there is no reason why you couldnt run boost it, surely the knock sensor if fitted would retard the ignition when it senses detonation.

I've been having naughty thoughts about charging a 16v again, as we have all the parts, just need to get hold of a disposable afh and luckily i have a bottom end with a couple of nicks out the pistons and a head i won off ebay for 99p, a set of fresh headbolts and a headgasket in the house. hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

All 1.3 mk3 heads are identical , the g40 pistons have the chambers in them rather than the head.

your looing to spend best part of a grand for a g40 engine on here

have a look on polog40 there meant to be cheaper on there i heard

Phil's did shift, I've seen the video

TBH if you dropped down the boost a bit then it might work ok.

i was thinking of ways to control the boost with a supercharger, easiest way albeit slightly pikey would be to make sure the BRV doesnt close fully, at full throttle.

we are selling all the parts to convert any 8v to Forced induction bar a charger for 350 quid, and got a 97k engine for 450 quid. i just recently sold a charger for 150 quid, seen a few at 200 quid, so its not terribly expensive for the power increase!

for 350 quid, its worth the punt to blow up a 1 litre and then when thats fried, to bosh a proper G lump in there as you would have all the ancillaries

The 1 litres dont run a knock sensor as standard, that was a py block only iirc

The 1 litres are also a comp around 9.7:1, fine for upto 1 bar of boost.

Its all in the mapping, phils one had no damage to the engine, it was only the headgasket that went

your correct, only the PY did, but its easy enough to tap the block for a knock sensor. and it is fully down to the mapping in my eyes plus it cant hurt 1 litre engines are ten a penny and its not exactly a massive amount of work to charge one if you have the spare bits anyway

Would be sick tbh.

I like touching people tbh.

I knew it!

Would it not be best just to run a larger pulley on the blower.

Haha, you love it.

your probably right, i think with the std g pulley the g-lader puts out 0.7 bar
