Had test this mornin, failed with ten minors, 6 of which were for late signals 2 for speed and a couple of positioning and somethin else. but the fail was a dodgy emergency stopp need it was a wet road anyway was wellll fooked off!

i failed first time went straight back in got it done passed no minors, failed on loads on the first one felt a rite dik

Took me three goes, passed with 5 minors last week . Just get to it, as soon as they give you an instruction, check mirrors and indicate. Remember blindspot when you set off, its a pain in the neck but you wont need to do it constantly when youve passed.

^^ how the fuck can you be giving driving advice? It took you 3 times, and you've not been passed too long. And already your giving people bad advice? I've been driving best part of ten years, and i still check blind spots, mirror signal and manouver. Go on the motorway with that sort if attitude, and your not going to last long! The amount of times I've checked my blind spot to see someone has crept into it is stupid, so go and rethink your advice.

The government can do all they want to make the test harder, but it just goes to show you can't teach someone common sense. Attitudes like the above are what make the roads unsafe, and justifiably give young drivers a bad name. Your car is likely to be the most dangerous think most of us posses, respect it

i have been driving over 3 years and i ALWAYS check my blind spots to this day!!! it's the one place that can cause an accident easily, as you can see everywhere else in the mirrors

I tend to go for the close my eyes and honk my horn a lot approach.

totally agree its because of these silly drivers that insurance prices have risen.

i can say i check my blind spot every time i change lane, leave a roundabout, turn off a road, etc. not worth damaging you are car over not looking

Well yea, thats what i meant. I've been getting about on bikes for god knows how long. I was on about on test, where regardless of whats actually happening (such as leaving a parking bay on an empty car park, where theres 10000% no other vehicles/things), you need to check fucking everything about 4 times before you even let the clutch out.

another tip, exaggerate every mirror check. ask bare questions when on independent driving, although its seriously piss. Never chance it on orange. If you accidentally speed, just bring it down in a controlled manner. always do your mirrors before indicating, not both at the same time.

yeh effel made the main point......... majorly exagerate every single mirror check and blind spot check

and when you do parking, don't rush it, you have to be incredibly slow for them to fail u for being too slow when doing parking/turns in road.

I failed my first time mate, was angry for ages afterwards, but then passed with 1 minor!

Btw, dunno about you lot in your gay 6n's, but in a mk3 (and most cars tbh) you can set your mirrors just right to eliminate the blindspot, there's a guide to doing it somewhere online but I can't find it right now.

More like 30% driving and 70% observation. Hell, my instructer describes it has more like 10% driving 90% observation. Driving is the easy part, remembering to do all the observations is the bit the vast majority of people fail on.

JOKES! Id say its about 60% driving and 40% observation tbh, all the best drivers pass second time IMO

There is no % of the test based on following instructions. You could go the wrong way for the whole thing, ignoring him telling you to go this way or that. Your not tested on navigational skills. The only instructions you must follow are those for manouvers, including emergency stop.

Also, there is no 'chancing it' on yellow anyway. you would fail, since green only means 'go if safe'.

^^ agree. Even though I am 99% sure there is a clear gap after the car that has just over taken me, I will still check just incase I made a mistake. Not worth having an accident and having higher insurance costs just because you didn't look over your shoulder for a couple of seconds.
