Banchwerks drop plates?

Featured Replies

I've got mk1 golf ta tecnics (not sure if that's how its spelt) on the back of mine and trust me its impossible to get the front of the polo so low that these rears can't level it out.

Your best bet tho is to have a word with philj because he used to split the mk1 coiles so you could buy just the fronts for caddys or just the rears for early polos. Not sure if phils new brand of coilies go as low as the ta's so might he worth double checking on that.

Should be cheaper getting rear coilies and at least you'll have height adjustment all round to fine tune the 'stance' on it mate

thanks thats a big help man well i have the coils in the front with some 9 inch 225 rate springs which are too big so i ordering some 6 inch 160 rates spring which should drop me down rightly at the front just need to find some where that dose realy short shocks

how short? the shocks inside my front TA's got my polo low enough to flatten the down pipe and ware it through after less than ten mins driving and that was without cutting any off the 3" bumper stops the coilies had on them

but i guess that depends on the design of your coilovers as to whether those would be any good for them

i can't remember if the rears were all the way down then but it did still have the helpers in so there would be more adjustment if needed

Just would like the short enough to keep the spring tighter when the car is jaked up cause we would get alot of mot spot checks for modified cars over here I have ta tectenics in the front from the lower kit I had think it should go low enough in the front with the new springs in the front plus I should have enough adjustment cause I lowered the steering arm 3 inches your car would be the hight I would like just with no arch gap. Think I'm going to get a set of mk1 golf coils off phill Jay cause there only 155 quid thanks for the info learing alot on here lol

Have you seen the shorter front shocks Phil sells? Not exactly cheap but could be just what your looking for. Is that 155 for the full set of coilovers? Because if you don't use the fronts you could get a good chunk of that back selling them on to some one with a mk1 golf caddy

Aye seen them just a bit steep tbh aye 155 for the set he sell rear polo ones but is looking 200 for them which is alot for the same thing think I will get the set a sell the fronts to someone with a caddy never thought of that

your car would be the hight I would like just with no arch gap

when i got rid of the arch gap on mine the sump was sitting on the floor

that wasn't helped by the afh having a deeper sump than the mk3 engine tho, but it would still be well worth welding some thick steel to the sump to armer plate it if you can mate because it will hit stuff and they don't take much to split :-(

That the hight that I would like to be at what size are your wheels? They 14s and take it you made your own front coils up?

it was on hydraulics in that pic, just posted it to show how it sits with no arch gap and if you look under you can see the sump sitting on the floor.

its got mk1 golf coilies fitted all round and the wheels are 13x7's.

i've found a photo of what the exhaust looked like after driving to the polo show and back although it had started blowing before i had go out of nuneaton

chopping a small section out of the down to pipe to make the bit that goes under the engine sit closer to the sump would probably solve this issue tho

or you could just fit some nice 14's instead of 13's and have that little bit more ground clearance to play with and less drop to get rid of the arch gap, its much easier to get them sitting nice and still be able to use it daily
