Mk4 Golf Losing power

Just wondering if anyone else on here may be having the same problem or know of someone who has.

When driving, the car will all of a sudden lose power, the revs will drop and then kick back in. I've had the ecu looked at and a diagnostics meter thingy (technical term that!) and everythings seems to be normal, no misfires, all emissons appear to be normal.

It's almost like the breaks get put on sharpish. I'll be doing 80 on the motorway and it'll lose power for a second or 2 and then kick back in :?

I've been told it could be the power control relay. Has anyone else got any ideas of what this could be?

Any help would be much appreciated.
