Okayy not too fussed about the sound, just wanna make it faster but on a budget "/

Your car doesnt have carbs mate. Youd notice a slight difference, mostly just noise and fuel consumption though.

The 1.4 8v is a slow engine and you'll have to accept it at least its great on fuel for a petrol engine. Drive it round for a year or two until you can afford something faster. Concentrate on making it look better for now. I'm guessing you are a young driver, young driver who want to go fast usually end up crashing, i'm not saying you will but it just tends to happen quite a lot thus the ridiculous insurance prices

^ Cos thats the response he wanted!

You'll be lucky if you saw 1hp from a filter, some people have fitted BMC style kits onto the 8v engine, which would give you good airflow , and a cold air feed would improve high speed performance a little , you might see a few more miles on a tank of fuel too, but the nice noise might make you drive it faster too so swings and roundabouts

I've got a universal airfilter on my 1.4 8v, makes it sound a bit different (maybe a bit better) and as my standard airfilter was overdue being changed it made a noticable difference. might take it off tbh though!! lol.

you shouldnt struggle with coilies, you dont really need any experience at all.

Theoretically, a different air filter shouldn't really increase fuel consumption, cause you're giving the engine better airflow- engine doesn't have to work so hard- uses less fuel- same with a decat..

I'm running a k&n and a decat straight through on my 16v and I'm getting around 45mpg.. With driving sensibly and no messing around.

Waiting to go up to rampworx again, see how many miles I get to a tank. I got 470 out of my old 1.4 8v that was standard)

K&N stands for Ken & Norm!

therefore they are irrelevant
