Mk3 Genesis Coupe

Featured Replies

Hey there.

I've been meaning to post a gallery about my car for a while!

This is my 1992 Genesis, I've owned the car for nearly a year and a half now and its my first car. I was lucky in finding it, it was in a slighlty tatty condition at the back of a local second hand dealers when I brought it, with only 50k on the clock and FSH!

I've worked hard getting the car back to good condition and have taught myself alot working on it! I've not had any problems with her in the time I've owned the car, apart from having to replace the fuel tank! I've kept it standard partly because it seemed such an original car to mess with, and also due to not really having the money to spend on mods! (although I may make a few cheeky mods this summer, before I put the car into storage whilst I'm at university)

For the pictures..

Thinking of a K&N universal filter in here, by removing the intake pipe from the filter housing and clamping the filter straight to the air intake inlet- thoughts?

Cheers for looking :)

Cool man, I've got one the same colour :)

if you're gonna put a cone filter on you should do it with a mk3 golf intake elbow, i got mine this week off a guy on here for £15 delivered including the intake arm and bolts, then you just need to buy the filter and whack it on the end. here's a picture of mine so you can see how it replaces the big dinnerplate style filter :)

ignore warm air pipe coming off of the manifold thing, i figured i'd put it there for a bit of a warm air feed with it being winter, but pulled it off in the end as there's no point

Cheers guys!

Chris2911- Fancy that mate! Good to hear theres another one from there still about!

Owengd97b- Yeah a few people on here have recomeneded that, a couple of questions, what happens with the white tube/wire coming of the air intake (just to the left of the 'dinerplate'/above the dipstick? Also the main reason I'm planning on fitting this is to help the car rev more freely at slower speeds, its getting quite a dangerous misfire when pulling out of junctions/ at lights in the wet/cold and I've had a few near misses because of this!! The car had a full service and the ht leads & spark plugs change in sept 2009, only done 7k since then. Would the aftermarket filter help with this?

Sorry for the slow reply. The white tube you speak of just goes from the elbow section of the old intake to underneath the old dinnerplate filter, it's to control the thermostat in the inlet, the end connected towards the actual filter controls the amount of warm air being taken in from the big warm air hose coming from the manifold. the new intake setup just does away with all that, both ends where it attaches to come off with the old intake. sorry if this isn't clear but i'm struggling to make it more coherent as i'm tired

As for the misfire and revving free-er, i've personally found that mine seems to rev ever so slightly more freely, but others might just say for a 1.0 there's no real difference. When you have the problems is it at night with the lights, wipers, heating, stereo etc. on? Because i've found that if i have too many electrical things on when it's cold and the cars not been running long it cuts out when i have the clutch down or at really low revs without accelerating. So far i've not really tried to solve this as it's only when it's really cold and when it does do it it's fine so long as i have my stereo off for the first 5 or 10 minutes. But i'm guessing it's just the old alternator not quite keeping upto pace after all these years. I can't say what it would be for you though, if you haven't already done so then you'll be best posting in the technical section asking for help.

Hope you get it sorted mate :)
