Hey guys, coming back from Porsmouth today i drove through Salisbury plain and i was just wondering do people in the forces love Volkswagens? i don't really hear much about them on forums n stuff?

nah he's more of a navy person :p

it would be difficult to have a hobby in the army though due to being over seas alot of the time, although in a PVW once there was a feature of a mk2 golf i think and the owner was in the American army but i think his friends did the majority of the work for him or something

My mates in the forces just buy a car at the end of a tour and just before they leave again they sell it. Every 6mths the cars do get better though.

one of my brothers mates (army in germany atm) has a 'jetta' known to us as a vento and they love em. has a mk2 jetta, mk3 vento and had a mk4 bora. all i no what hes had. but generally iv not heard of amyone else.

I know people that have done all the exams, training etc and literally a few hours before they pass or whatnot, they get told they haven't a job anymore.

I was looking at joining the RAF doing avionics, but there just wasn't anyone getting jobs so I've moved to domestic electrician

I've left the forces now but I'm into VWs =D lol

I served with the RAF, the Army and the Navy (yes i really have been in all 3)

tbh the car clubs are immense on the station but when i was in, fast and the furious was still massive so most of the cars represented this. I know down at RAF Benson, my cousins a part of the car club and most of them are on ED38 with their golfs. plus i know of a lad in lincoln in the RAF through Jamesb

Si (philpheasant (sp)) is/was/something in the RAF and has enough MK3 polos to be running a scrapyard

He lives on base at RAF Cosford.

RAF regiment front line... nahh there still recruting its just alot more demanding phystically...

you will struggle to join as a trade thats where the most cuts are

When I used to read Max Power back in the day, I always remember there being cars in there that were owned by soldiers - no VWs that I can remember though!

RAF has no compitation with cival aviation... the RAF is there for protection and show of force, granted its taken a massive cut but its always going to be there

PMSL the RAF Regt isnt front line lol get used to guarding airfields and what not to be honest!!!

if the recruiters told you youll be definately going to afghan, they are chatting crap lol and if you want to see action get a prostitute lol as youll be crapping yourself when it goes off out there!!

shows how much you no lol and BTW try telling that to 34 sdr that..... they lost a lad wile on maneuvers to conter attack the taliban and was taken out by an IED....

they go on force protection in the chinook to bring back injured and in needed replace them, going to FOBs ( foward opiration bases )also calling in close air support, and to do that you need to be on the front line I no my stuff my brother in on 34 sdr and they ARE front line nothing to do with what the recruiters have said

I've been there!!! i watched the WTC sept 11th attacks while working at HQSTC, i then was one of the first RAF personnel to ship out to afghan!!

the RAF regt are not the Army ( i should know, I've been there too!!!)

I'm not trying to belittle you mate, I'm just saying, you have no idea what its like out there or what the people who have been there have been through!! I've seen lads join up with loads of enthusiasm and "i wanna kill shit" attitude and there the ones that have let people down when it matters!!

wow I'm not looking foward to killing but i no for a fact it a situation i will face and if needed i will..... I'm from a forces family iv see the dammage, uncles are in the royal artillery, REME's, and regular army...
