Ah right, Iv welded one up for mine, was planning on selling them from my traders section but haven't heard anything back for a few days.

Front one goes just ahead of the ARB mounts on the what would be sump guard mounts

Rear one goes on top of the rear turrets, mounts to the top of the shocks.

Yes there is, goes between the TCA arms, but not made by GED. I have a weitec one on my car

Ged McConville is the guy who built the apricot Mk3 in the late 90s, the one that's now green and has Rallye headlights. His car had a steel bar that went between the anti-roll bar mounts. He offered to make a set for people on here (mine was made by him) and people have since copied the design, saying they're Ged-style.

GED gets capped up like it's an acronym or a company or something. It's like Chinese whispers!

On a Mk1/2 I can't imagine they'll add much strength, as the front panel has a large beam in it that braces these points anyway. The brace bars were originally designed for Mk3s, which flex more due to the lack of a full-length slam panel.

Higgo, if you're getting one for yours I'd get a lower strut brace instead.

Wasn't picking on you specifically, just amuses me that they get called Ged bars, Ged's bars, GED bars... they're just a front brace bar. Ged hasn't had anything to do with them for donkey's years!

Judging by the post above, I'd say no. Try it if you want but I can't see how it'd make much difference on a Mk1. Easy to fit though, and easy to remove and sell on if it doesn't do anything.

I amuses me when people put GED too! Like it's some kind of tuning company that makes them or something. I wonder if Ged knows he is famous without no one knowing?

A lower front strut brace (goes between the TCAs) should help. Cup Car style anti-roll bar mounts work well too.

Unfortunately the stuff that makes the big difference has a price tag that reflects it. There's no better way to stiffen up the front end of a Polo than to get a subframe tbh.

Ill be making up my own lower front and "ged" style brace this weekend. I will report on the chassis-stiffening-making once complete :-D

you could go for a PPP stage 1 frame. It consists of front and rear lower brace bars:

the front brace there is essentially a "ged" bar.

I had one of the cheapy ally TCA braces. Figured it wouldnt clear the box mount and sold it straight away.

I'll never understand where they got the design from. Because when its sat upside down, its miles away from anything but the floor
