about 10 mins ago i was going along the road happily admittedly i was speeding, and there is a camera on the other side of the road. now i've been past that camera hundreds of times and i know it only works on the other side of the road, or so i thought. anyway i was driving past it and suddenly it flashed and i couldn't see a car on that side of the road, so i think i've been caught but i'm unsure.

i dont think there is any white speed markings as a reference for the camera in my side of the road but its shitted me up a good un,

what do you reckon?

They do sometimes trigger for no apparent reason. I've seen the one nr my house just randomly fire at an empty road.

Well I went back to the scene of the crime and there isn't any markings for the speed camera to measure

DO they muck around with dummys? If not stick up for yourself if you get caught. Will be hard to argue againt the police but if you can prove the system if missing some critical points then you may be lucky with a warning?

AFAIK, the big yellow ones are not allowed to take pictures of oncoming cars so i guess you'll be ok. Don't take my word for it though!

Camera must be on the same side of the road in order to gather evidence that you was speeding by recording the lines on the road that you go over.

Each line indicates 10mph so they can work out exactly how fast you go.

i got flashed by one in my area and didn't receive anything as the camera was on the other side so you will be ok

normally its fine i went through it 2 am once in my old bready at an incredible speed (for a bready) as it was the last drive before it got scrapped. nothing went off, but i was worried when i saw the flash.

so was i when i seen it as there was markings on my side of the road too but the person i was dropping home said they do it almost every night and never get anything through the post

IMO i think you'll be safe. As someone else said above, they are not allowed to be front facing beacuse the flash can stun the driver.

They would be admitting to breaking the law if they went ahead and convicted you.

A while back my brother (when in the works van) used to swerve over the line slightly and trigger the camera's off just for kicks (yeah, he drives up and down the country daily and makes his own fun sometimes) I don't know what he intended to do, trigger the camera on on-comings cars perhaps, but he never had a fine through the post (nor did his work).

i to am a bastard, i tend to do 40 through the facing camera and it sets it off when other cars are driving on the side of the road.
