Had the top mounts buzzed, now can 't shift the other two bolts on the suspension leg. I'm guessing this isn't the sort of thing I can ask a friendly mechanic to do as it involves taking both wheels off - that's another £40 then!

Does anyone think a 12v impact wrench would do the trick? Bearing in mind the bolts were buzzed back on a few weeks ago when the springs went on.

plenty of wd40 and brute force

if they still aint budging get an assistant to counter hold one bolt while you crack the other off,using a bar for leaverage if needed

Invest in a breaker bar :)

The 12v ones are pointless.

Get a breaker bar and some impact sockets.

if your gonna grip the damper shaft at least use some rubber between the shaft and the grips to a. protect the shaft, and b. grip it better.

Didn't do this anyway.

The shafts are case hardened and chrome plated, i really doubt you will mark them with grips as they're fucking hard!

Also wd40 isnt a penetrating oil, its a lubricant. You need plusgas or similar to undo tight nuts etc, it penetrates into the threads.

The damper pistons are not that hard,I've got moles to bite quite deep marks into them. If you're replacing the damper it doesn't matter.

But if not,you can drill down one side of the nut to turn it from O shape to C shape,release it,and replace just the bolt.

they maybe plated and hardened but they still Mark really easily and if your not careful you'll do the damper seals, in real world 9/10 it would be fine. But the job I do everything has to be spot on and correct. but yeah if your scrappin them doesn't matter if you damage. Having the weigh of the car on them
