Sorry for ANOTHER camera thread but I am baffled.

I was just driving home from work, through a 30 zone in Warwick.

As I was driving down the road, I noticed like a Fiat Panda police car parked the side of the road on the pavement with the boot open and what looked like a camera in the boot,

As I drove by I saw him look at me and remove a CD/DVD from this camera unit.

I didnt notice any signs on the road for speed cameras (do they have to warn about possible mobile cameras?) And there was nothing by or noticable on the vehicle to say it was for speeding.

I know this may be an ANPR camera, but its just weird how he removed a CD/DVD as he looked at me?

Any idea what this may be?

I think I glanced and I was doing around an indicated 34mph? (I know - my fault and I accept responsibility)

But I'm confused if it was for speeding, and what the CD/DVD was for?

I'm worried now lol

may be a tax or something camera, it may be that the CD only holds so many reg numbers and it saves every one that went past to give them their figures i.e. 90% of cars on a motorway have insurance whereas on a housing estate, it can be as low as 10%...

you just happened to be the last car that went through that the disk could hold...?

Just been reading - looks like there doesnt need to be signs, even on the vehicle, but I thought all the fines were saved electronically - unless they keep hard backups.

Just how he seemed to lean over and get the disc pretty much straight away I'm hoping he was setting up or something - guess its my fault so nothing I can do, just want to know now or not tbh!

Weird, but, if you were doing 34 in a 30 i doubt you'll be done for that?

looks like a tax camera or could quite possibly be a normal camera and he was doing some sort of exercise/recording information for some reason and your being extremely paranoid of him just because he glanced over to you while packing away?

Car manufacturers are allowed a 10% deviation either way of the speed limit which amounts to 3 MP/h and chances are the camera won't be 100% correct on any given day.

Not allowed it given either way, speedo in the uk must read at least 3% higher than actual speed, some countries have no error. The indicated speed can never be lower than actual. Some small cars read badly wrong but mines not that far out.

I know these figures due to my job involving loading software into vehicles tong

As for ther choice of a Panda, I assume it's some sort of incentive, if he catches enough they let him have a van and hide on dual carriageway bridges

So if the copper was taking the DVD out as he passed, chances are he had already stopped using it while you approached ready to hit eject.

And the glare you got from him was probably one of "damn it, i missed you" lol

Hmmm not sure, I think it was a camera and tbh i won't be surprised if I receive a fpn as I think it may have got me before i noticed it, hmm I just want to know lol!
