What £20 for abit of plastic is standard postage charge? I can get 4 wheels set for £25

is he talking about a dizzy cap? if so they are like £8 from halfords or something!

They're obviously on glue.

Yeh abit of plastic to cover the dizzy on the AFH, £10 I'm fine to pay, but then no more than £3 for delivery!

£20 haha, he is deffo on the moon, or he is going to personally travel and bring it to me.

Dizzy cap ?? I'm sure these are only like 6 quid from gsf. cheap and plentiful not much point in putting a second hand one on imo either :p

I'd want him to fit it for that, plus bucket of KFC...

yeah but they won't be off a low mileage car

indeed it is that glue sniffing, moon living fellow blackmissile

£30 all in is a bargain if it includes the block ;)

haha i've been getting the same kind of messages off him today

i've been planning on rebuilding my spare ahf to go in my mk2 but time is against me so i posted in his 16v breaking thread asking how much for the bare engine, throttle body and fuse box. he replied by pm...

£475

I only wanted a few bits not the whole car :lol:

Sorry mate but I'm gonna have to pass on it, that's WAY off price wise. I only paid 150 for a full conversion about 7 weeks ago off here. Good luck with the sale

Cheers Guy

thats fine mate, this one has genuine low mileage and i sold one before with 39k miles for £575 as there are buyers out there like myself who only want the best not parts from high mileage scrappers

goodluck with you are conversion

thanks

The problem with buying an engine from a low mileage car's is that low miles tend to be a sign of lots of short journeys where the engine doesn't have a chance get up to running temp causing excessive ware on some major parts. but yours was the closest afh I could find so I was willing to take a chance on it, guess i'll just have to broaden my search.

Cheers Guy

well thats a first if you are sayin a high mileage engine is better than a low mileage one, people must b proper thick to pay more money for a low mileage car LOL

anyway the further north u look the cheaper parts get but u wont get a low miler if thats what you are lookin for

i sold a gti engine package (wiring loom/engine/box/ ecu/ ) over here for £1200 quid 2months back the car had only done 45k miles had loads of the skintflint jokers sayin they usually sell for 400 quid!!

anyway thanks

I didn't say that high mileage cars are better than low mileage cars, most parts of a car will benefit from short journeys but the engine doesn't. 80% of normal engine ware happens before the engine is up to running temp, the more short journeys it does the worse it is for it. People pay extra for low mileage cars because the majority of them are blissfully unaware of this fact. They think less miles means less ware but unfortunately it often means the opposite for major engine conponents.

Should I be adding a LOL here for you not knowing your facts before sending a condescending reply?

I'm not looking for a low mileage afh, I'm just looking for an afh, my 70k one had nothing but problems and eventually shit its self in a dramatic way. yet my 90k replacement runs sweet as a nut, hasn't missed a beat and pulled 90bhp at the wheels at the rolling road day, so I know mileage is irrelevant.

if you found some one who paid 1200 for a gti conversion then fair play, as they say there's one born every minute.

but alas, we are getting away from the point, you are asking a lot more than I am willing to pay for a common and plentiful engine, so for that reason I'm out.

Cheers, Guy

LOL he must be a proper chode.

Seriously think he's got something wrong with him.

I had a similar one on ebay just a few days ago.

Found a pair of clear 6n indicator lenses going cheap like £1.50 or something...was just about to bid when I noticed the postage cost of £10!!!

I've posted indicator lenses before and know due to the size and low weight first class postage will be £5 at most, and this guy wanted £10 for economy delivery.

I emailed him to ask why and his response..."I can't be bothered going to the post office to send things, so I use the courier from my work and its a minimum of £10 to send something"

Bit of a pathetic excuse I thought, almost felt like buying them anyway just to see how it was posted and how much it cost.

To be fair though, If people are selling things for really cheap that should be pretty costly, then put a cheap postage price, the chances are they will actually make a loss on selling it,

Dont forget poeple have to drive to post office which takes time and money, plus the cost of packaging etc,

Thats probably why people put the postage up a fair bit, But this guys taking the piss.

so for that reason I'm out.

Cheers, Guy

since when have you been on dragon's den?!
