Dude fair enough if it's low mileage but that's dealer pricing!

Plus low mileage + 2 female owners.. Basically means it's never been past about 50mph lol which isn't actually good for the engine...

mate i was down the local main dealer today and mentioned to a few of the sales men that theres a chap on one of them forums who thinks a high mileage car is worth more than a low miler, the response was histerical, if not "BARE THICKASS" was the response some said!!! LOL

I can break this car to £1500 easily, lets put it this way your not dealing with a novice here I've been dealing in cars for 10yrs so i defo know what I'm on about hence why can ask them prices. You might want to pop down to my house then you'll know what I'm on about

I'm not expectin to sell anything over the forums as its full of skint flints (not callin u one) lookin for knock off parts because they can barely afford to run the damn thing

I had a similar one on ebay just a few days ago.

Found a pair of clear 6n indicator lenses going cheap like £1.50 or something...was just about to bid when I noticed the postage cost of £10!!!

I've posted indicator lenses before and know due to the size and low weight first class postage will be £5 at most, and this guy wanted £10 for economy delivery.

I emailed him to ask why and his response..."I can't be bothered going to the post office to send things, so I use the courier from my work and its a minimum of £10 to send something"

Bit of a pathetic excuse I thought, almost felt like buying them anyway just to see how it was posted and how much it cost.

To be fair though, If people are selling things for really cheap that should be pretty costly, then put a cheap postage price, the chances are they will actually make a loss on selling it,

Dont forget people have to drive to post office which takes time and money, plus the cost of packaging etc,

Thats probably why people put the postage up a fair bit, But this guys taking the piss.

I've often found though if you list something on ebay for a 99p start and a fair postage price, you get more interest, more bids and end up getting a fair price.

You got to think of both sides of the coin, as a buyer I'm looking for a good product at a cheaper price than elsewhere with reasonable postage costs. As a seller I'm looking to make my advert attractive and get a fair to good price on my item.

If you are using ebay alot then chances are you will sometimes make a loss, its the chance you take. But if I'm wanting to sell an item then I'd rather sell it at a loss than expect an unreasonable price and not sell it at all...because then you will still have the item and be down a couple quid for the listing fee.

as every one can see i didn't say high mileage cars are worth more than low mileage ones, but i stand by my comment that generally speaking the engines in low milers have had a harder life due to the short journeys causing damage to the engine. that's a pretty well known fact that some one that's supposedly been dealing in cars for ten years should know. contrary to what he claims in that pm, he dofo doesn't know what he's talking about judging by his total lack of understanding of how damage is caused to engines and his inability to price some thing even close to it's true value.

"BARE THINKNESS" doesn't go half way to describing this joker.

smithy did he say it had had two female owners? if so thats a pretty bad selling point as a lot of women have no basic grasp of general car maintenance (no offence to the clued up ladys on here), and that "low mileage" clutch (among many other things) has probably had a harder live than Pamela Andersons lady bits

Wonder if it's had the cambelt changed? I'm sure people miss the "change the cambelt every 36,000 or 5 years WHICHEVER COMES FIRST" and just wait till the 36,000 is up.

I can remember reading a story somewhere of a guy buying a stupidly low mileage Mk1 Golf or similar VW. The original owner was an engineer (and obviously a bit of a gimp) who'd written down everything he'd ever spent on the car (including fuel and mileage between fill ups). After 10,000 miles or something daft he stripped the engine and measured all the tolerances and found it was wearing at a greater rate than he expected. Apparantley he wrote to VW to ask for a replacement engine but they never replied (the envelope probably kept getting soaked from the tears of laughter i'd expect) so he put it in a garage and left it.

You guys may laugh but people do buy stuff for these prices - the same sort of people who'd go to kwik fit for a service.

He's mad selling this sorta stuff to people on a forum at the same rate though, of course he's gonna get half as much because we all know the real value!

Makes me laugh when he said he's been talking to salesmen at the main dealers - i know a salesman at VW and he doesn't know shit about cars!
