Currently I am driving a 9n vw polo 1.2 twist, which is fine because it is low insurance and good on fuel economy. So basically the ideal student car. The problem is when going out with friends we have a different designated driver for each time we go it. Problem is the 'designated driver' at the time always seems to be tempted to have a few shots of vodka which means he/she cannot drive. I don't drink so in theory i could drive, however i'm not covered 3rd party on their vehicle. Being added to their policy would make their policy go up and my policy won't cover me 3rd party as I am only 20.

I have checked around and none of the insurance companies offer 3rd party cover for under 25's.

Are there any insurance compaines left that offer 3rd party cover on the policy for any age driver?

my sister used to think she would be covered 3rd party as she was fully comp on her own car. then she read the small print somewhere. i tihnk this is normal, you cant drive with 3rd party cover on your own fully comp insurance until your 25.

My mate it 22 and he's insured with RAC. He's phoned them up to check and he can drive anything 3rd party with owners permission. He's fully comp on his car.

The small print of my doc's say i can drive other cars 3rd party. I'm with Cooperative insurance and I'm 22.

i'm only insured 3rd party fire and theft and since 24 have been covered to drive any car as long as it's insured and i have the owners permission
