dekerf1996 - I think Brembo Discs it will be! Its already got braided lines but ill probably put some dot 5.1 as i'm doing the rest. I'm surprised about the green stuff pads though! my friend has them on his GT and they're awesome!

I did a track day on brembos last year and they were fine, that was with 256's though.

Sweet, and i delved a little deeper into the black diamonds and they are very prone to cracking! wouldnt want that

Small update!

Tried to get the front two cats prepped and primed as they're matte and the two rears are gloss, first setback, they had been sprayed matte with some thing like stove paint! it was insane! 80 grit sandpaper only marked it minimal amounts! so i carried on anyway and managed to get them flatted and some of the deeper scratches removed, this is what one looked like before i did the inner lips and the centres:

It seemed ok so i carried on with the primer, first coat went on fine, flatted it, put another on, put three coats on in the end and did the same to the other, looked kosher so i stuck them in my utility room to dry overnight, and woke up to find this!

The primer had cracked, i was properly gutted cause it took me like five hours to sand them down! so i started to sand them down again for a re-primer and the highbuild primer was completely dry but it just wouldnt come off! This is where i am now

I'm going to see if its any easier to shift after work tomorrow! If not its shotblast time because I've had enough i want them on the car! I guess I've just been a dickhead and tried to do too much too soon, but we shall see!

Oh and I'm having an assessment from a new instructor next thursday, my last one was all booked up for two months so this guy is going to see how far i got and I'm going to try and do an intense course, its horrible having to look at it every single day and not being able to drive it! need to get that license!

I had the same problem when I resprayed my banded steels, primer reacted really badly.

Best way I found was to just take them back to bare metal (so you will probably end up having to shotblast them or nitromors), then rub them down with thinners then give em a good wash. Paint went on beautifully then.

Wheels have been refurbed! with new tyres on the front aswell! The back ones fit Perfectly :) the fronts need some 20 mm spacers the clear the brake carriers! Bad times! So I will order those :) The rear coilovers went on a treat! the front end letting the team down again! The strut rubbed on the wheels so i couldnt take it for a test drive, but by next week the wheels should be fitted up! Here are some photos of the rears :) pokey pokey

dont do 20mm spacers... Put VW1 carriers on (ones off standard polo brakes, not G40 brakes)

20mm spacers will leave you with sum fucking stupid poke. It will look awful :(

What size tyrs have you got for the fronts?

Also those rear tyres are indeed fucking massive

Yeah the tyres are quite large , the rears came with the wheels so i thought i may as well try them, I have no idea on the size of the fronts or rears I completely forgot to check! The fronts are a little less comical

And B-shaw, the ET of the wheels is making the spokes of the wheels hit the carriers, so they need spacers to make the spokes clear :) plus would i be able to run G40 brakes with standard carriers? Or am I being a proper retard? And I'm going to run my BBS's for a while just so i can drive it, but i think I may take your advice on the tyres, they make it look like a go kart

And i forgot to mention my new Brake setup on the front! I've fitted Brembo discs and pads, I haven't had a chance to try them properly though but the discs look the shit! And when i rolled it out the workshop i gave a sharp brake to just to see if there was a notable difference and there was! The combo gave a really nice bite! But i guess i cant give a real review until I've braked from speed :)

Yeah, you can run G40 brakes on standard carriers. Its what i (and a lot of other people) do. As the G40 carriers stick out a load.

goride85 - Cheers dude :) and I like to think it does! most of them think its just an old car WITHOUT Lexus lights and tinted windows! I like that though kind of makes it more of a sleeper when they have no idea what it is!

Another small update!

My other hobby is mountain biking, so i needed a way to get my bike in/on my car and i didn't fancy chucking my bike in the back and buggering up my interior, so i decided roof bars were the way forward! But it can get get expensive buying the feet and bars, let alone the bike carrier, but luckily my mate was selling a full set of Thule feet and bars! £30 and they were mine :) mint too!

I did this to mine, but got advised that because the carriers are cast, cutting them can lead to them cracking over time, and I don't really want my brake calipers falling off at 100mph....

I ran them cut for about 6-8 weeks and had no problems, but for the 10mins it takes to swap the carriers over I think it's worth using VWI ones.

Exactly, cast is only stong when its hole. I'm wary about touching anything thats cast like that as its bound to weaken them.

Carriers arent exactly under a great deal of stress. but the fact its your brakes i really wouldn't want to risk it. Worst case, it could end up killing you and/or others.

By the way, been driving round on the coilies for a while now and what a difference they make! a few wheel fitment issues but i can thoroughly recommend them! so much smoother than springs and shocks!
