Just realised its been two months since I last updated this thread! sorry chaps!

Well quite a bit has happened since I last updated the thread, I passed test on May the 14th and since then I've driven the car everyday, its pretty much my 2nd home!

After passing my test i fitted a new fuel tank (old one leaked if you put more than £10 of fuel in it!) I then fitted my Alleycats, plus my bike rack and it looked like this:

It handled extremely well on the alley cats due to their width , but they started smashing my arches, as i was told they would on here, they didnt at all when it was only me driving but if i had passengers they would, so I've now taken them off the car to stop them doing more damage, once i have a bit more money ill put some low profile tyres on them and run them again but for now I'm rolling with the BBS's.

Oh, and also since I've had the car its always felt a little under powered (Didnt accelerate up hills, acceleration was slow in general) always thought it was the timing, but we sorted that and it felt the same, my dad drove it and said it felt like it was on about 55bhp , not how he remembers them being ( he had a tornado red one in the late nineties) so i had another poke around and also had a look at the BRV , that was closing properly, then i had a look at the intercooler and the pipe from the intercooler had completely come off! the jubilee clip holding it on had had it! the charger cycle stopped there, thus no boost! So we reconnected the pipe and its now alot quicker, but noticeably smoother, the power has pretty much doubled! its lovely to drive now and you dont have to cane it anymore to keep up with modern traffic! The only bad thing about driving at the moment is the fuel prices! Plus I only put Super in this which doesnt help!

Yeah yeah! I mostly ride Downhill but I'm riding trials alot now, i ride with a few guys from work, plus Ben Savage has come out with us a few times! He's a properly nice guy!

Last time I logged on here was months and months ago and I've bypassed all the shite straight to the 'g40' thread. Reminds of the white G40 I had as my daily for five years. Tremendous, loved it dearly and spent 1000's at VW and so on maintaining it to the best of my ability but then decided to move on. A decision I still regret. I will get one again.... once you've had one it's difficult to get over that charged boost feeling. The last G40 I saw was when I went to Barcelona and I said to my girlfriend 'SHHHHH!' as it went past so I could soak in that distinct charger noise ha ha. I won't be back on here for a while but please enjoy it, it looks like you've got a lovely example..However... be careful because they can bite and pleeease.....Get the BBS back on, those balloon tyres look awful :-)

neil_dubgt - they're allycats dude i wouldnt rock steels on my G, i do like the bbs's back on though, my tyres were silly.

B-shaw - you may diss the ballons but they made the ride holy! they did make steering a chore though

There has been very little progress with the car as i have another project on the go:

Had it since i was 14 :) getting it done for the end of summer!

I have had to borrow my friends yellow headlamps though as there was a hairline crack along the top of mine, didnt want to make it worse!

There was 4 other golfs/polos on the other side too! The neighbours were surprisingly cool about it! they even took pictures!

I keep forgetting i have a thread on here!

Theres not much to report to be honest, the car still looks the same although i have managed to sort some lower profile rubber for the allycats so thats set to change! Also the yellows are still on, theyve grown on me :) The only real change I've made is installing a 65mm pulley and a chip to go with it (No pictures because we all know what they look like),which has improved it no end, the car is alot more driveable now and also slightly faster The car is still running really well and its still incredible fun :) it puts a smile on my face everyday, what more can you ask for? Heres a few pictures of how the car as it stands!
