Bloody hell forgot about this thread!

Well its been a good and bad couple of months,

I crashed the poor beggar denting my bonnet and slam panel, whilst i was looking for a place to store It ended up looking like this,

5c26934f.jpg

Bonnet from a scrapped bready and lights taped because its a vicious track weapon

I then found a place to store it, sold the allycats to buy a daily :( i then moved it to my dads unit and started stripping it down for the front end respray :)

I then got it sprayed up

Goodbye shite red bonnet!

He did a really sweet job and after a good day building it back up it looked complete again, on that day i re fitted all the interior including a non wrecked back bench and a momo team!

Almost there! A couple of days before the mot with a friends Cupra

808bd77f.jpg

I then had a mad couple of nights getting it all ready or the mot installing new polybushes on the front end, and fitting brand new vw11 callipers up front with greenstuff pads (only one pad was contacting the disc on the old setup which explains the accident).

It then passed the mot and i got it taxed!

I then went out to celebrate! (picture with my mates abf mk2)

And thats about it! Going for a rolling road session this wednesday, to find out how its performing and to see where its loosing its power (feels sluggish) gave it a full service last week too so it drives smoooooth.

Heres a parting shot! Its back and better than ever!

Looking very well dude! Whites a good colour for the Gee's always look smart!

You windsurf?

  • Author

Thanks mate! I love the colour!

I dont I'm afraid mate! Used to be big into mountain boarding but the roof bars were for my mountain bike rack! They were on the car for a while, i just used to forget to take them off after i padded them up!

Aah, saves putting it in the car and covering the interior with crap/chain grime.

I havn't windsurfed in years, last time i had ago I hired a rig that was too big for me/conditions and ended up with a mile walk back upwind!

Loving it though chap. Inspiring stuff, looking forward to getting mine out and about. Was going to say on the roads, but if I'm honest I'm really not looing forward to driving it on the roads, they're fucked the cars set up too hard and it owes me too much money to be involved in a driving incident!

So iv lost the daily fun out of the car i wanted it from

Yeah it does!

Haha sweet! Doesnt soun ideal though, typical british weather!

Nice one mate :) yeah that was my dilemma :) but i just went for it , if you properly Enjoy driving it, a bit of work here and there wont matter, but i know how you feel! I'm constantly bricking myself especially when white van men drive up my arse! Could kill them!

Looks good chap ;)

front end looks a slightly different colour?

Shame about the smash. Was a properly mint G40 before.

Cheers KO3!

Yeah neil_dubgt,its because the car is filthy in those photos so the colour looks more dull! after a quick wash it matches really well, yeah it was a shame but shit happens, it wasnt as mint as you'd think to be honest! had to do lots of repair work to previous owners bodges, the resto over winter has done wonders!

Haha Neil you jealous fuck.

Looks so much better without the alleycats. I really dont care about stance etc, but... i reckon some spacers on the rear would make it look a whole lot better.

As for the colour mismatch, probs a combination of dirt and lighting. Sure it will all match after a good clean and a polish :)

Looks amazing.

Cheers dude! Yeah i do too now, they just killed my arches and it was too low with them on, couldnt get into my local drive through because it caught so much! Yeah i might experiment with some spacers in the future to get it perfect but i need to sort a few things first :) yeah the colour does look bad in the photos bu after a quick wash it looks ace!

Thanks mate :)

Nothing worse than having a car thats too low.

mines only 70mm down but speedramps are either avoided or at 1mph!

Jon.

Yeah it was unpractical, at the best of times, the fronts coming down a bit this weekend to get rid of the reverse rake then I'm done :)

Well the rolling road identified a blown Supercharger, its done less than 4k since its last rebuild by G Werks, bunch of absolute robbers, really pissed off, and theyve gone bust so no chance of finding out what the hell theyve missed.

Jabbasport in Crowland is your best bet now as iirc, there isnt many other options for servicing chargers. Its just down the road from me which is handy too :)

Tom, I think you've already spoken with matt.

I was going to recommend him. You'll be sorted now 8-)

I didn't notice you were in Cardiff until I saw the mint coloured Mk2 Golf. Cool shot that last one. D'you go to the So-Wal meets?

I'm moving back to Cardiff in August :)

PeteG40 on the Club G40 forums, must have rebuilt more G40 laders than most (companies and individuals)

Only chap I'd ever use for chargers- runs them on his car first too, and does a good price

Double vote for Pete, he did mine and it's all fine.

What's blown on it? You do get seals and bearings letting go, regardless of workmanship, on G-chargers. There's a lot to go wrong in there.

Alright ill give him a PM! Cheers guys I've spoken to jabba, OCD, and ill pm Pete now, i dont actually know just yet as I'm pulling the charger off tomorrow after College, its spewing out oil from the charger outlet dome? It made 0.2 bar of boost today on the RR, yeah it might just be a defect in the charger itself, i was just looking for people to blame really! But i hardly,if ever nail the car so its weird how its happened, i dont think I've been over 5K simce i put the smaller pulley on! Baffled!

Damn its been a long time!

Well nothings changed really! Managed to finally sort my boost issues, (Big thanks to Only Charged Dubs! Absolute gent!) Turns out it was worn apex seals and a sieve for an intercooler! All sorted now though and its running full power, great fun :)

Just been driving it about and enjoying boosted life! A few photos from its travel's over the summer!

7AA9710C-8789-4EFF-B9C2-6EA366F26327-774

Plans for the winter are to get it machine polished, sort out the engine bay, and generally tidy it up! After some fancy wheels, really want some splits but we will have to see!

Until next time!

Smart as fuck, I love it mate, Well done!
