Ok so I finished charging my battery, and the excitment got to much, so I just had to try it to see if it will at least fire....

A little hesitant to begin with some miner spluttering, but soon burst into life with a massive roar (thtat'll be the fact my downpipes at the welders for modding). Only let it run for a few seconds as I'm still wondering what to do with these water hoses..

seriously though, I'm a happy man today!! To think I could even get to drive it by the weekend.... OOOHHH :lol:

  • Yes tis true , I'm not sure why it was such a problem on Higgos ? I could never get the throttle body to reset . I'm sure given enough time to sift through the faults it could be rectified. In Leggy

LOL creased. Can i take this opportunity to thank you for your help this past month, Beers are on me :-D I've not finished yet though. its this fucking throttle cable!? you said youve extended the bar that goes from the pedal to bulk head, does this mean the bar now sticks up through the bulk head?

Appart from my exhaust system, which is in someone else hands, It's the last thing for me to do before I put the bonnet on, shut the bastard, and book the MOT! Still bouncing its running though

Just glad your getting their mate

As for the cable I used the mk3 one, but with the mk2 not having a servo the bulkhead sits lower where the cable goes through so once its connected to the peddle there a big gap between where it comes through the bulkhead and the outer casing of the cable. So yeah I cut a bar to the size I needed and welded it onto the hole in the bulkhead. It's pikey but I needed to get the car on the road ASAP and didn't have the time to piss about. The mk2 cable was too short

I'll get you a photo tomorrow

Alright cheers guy. Did you have a 6n cable with your engine as surely that's gotta be the right length even if the pedal fitment is different. I'll prob take the pikey/bodged approach just see me through the motoeway aswell tho. Anything to get to it going! I've even considered using cable ties hahaha. A pic will be most helpful tho! X

Awesome cheers karl exhausts going on tonight then woop! 8-) Loving that pic too, wonder how many coils id have to chop out to get down that far lol. Did you ever knock out those centre caps? I'd forgotten about them so no doubt you have too lol. Forgot what size it was now.. Think it was 146mm.

no problem me and pete will drop it up later, i think it was 136mm for the centre caps and your in luck because i just set up the plasma cutter for aluminum so i'll bring them up to.

If I get the exhaust on I'm gonna get it bk out on the driveway. Time to decide what to do with the wheels next then. Pure white faced with polished dishes perhaps. You should start making caps to put on ebay, you could go part time looking at the price of them!!

Well I've got 3 Kamei skirts so your welcome to the odd one! They've been everywhere this past week, transit lorries, freight planes, i just got off a bus with them, and about to board a train then walk home with them. Lmao!

Didnt fit the exhaust tonight as the mrs got the good news of getting a job so we hit the pub for a bit, but I did have a quick chance to go eye up one of these skirts in the dark before going out.

1 set of kamei skirts imported from ebay.de. so some 80''s styling to go with the late 90's mechanics. a good combination I feel. There is another user on here with a set but i cant remember who owns them? i remember phil j had them before selling them on.

So, heres a sneak peek. they're gonna need some minor repairs before painting but nothing major. they'll tie in with Some other stuff I want to do with the body that I plan to do over the summer 8-)

I just been out the garage tonight with the hope of putting on the downpipe followed by middle and rear silencers. Did it go smoothly? Did it fuck! the centre box joint sits about 3 or 4 inches to the left of the end of the downpipe..(not your fault karl!)

So, without a welder here, I'm a little stuffed. My plan was to get it all on there just to quieten it down enough to drive to longlife and have a system made, but the way it's looking, I'm a little stuffed. bleh :tear:

Here's the photo of the throttle cable mate, obviously you might wanna paint around the weld on yours
