As you know i was done for drink driving and rightly so.. My hands are up. With my mitigating factors read out, i've got a 15 month ban and 100 pound fine. I'm doing that drink driver's course so hopefully reducing it to 12 months. All's well and fair enough. What gets me though, is that my mum's friend has just been done for th same thing... For the fourth time! Not only that, but its a 9 month ban. What the actual fuck!? What do you think? People like that should be banned permanently. That gets on my tits!

I think they prob gave you a longer ban to try teach you a lesson. But the guy that done it 4 times just needs it completely taking it off him, such a danger to people.

Oh believe me i aint ever going to drive again even after half a pint.

I know right it's a fucking joke.

Forgot to say, the po po were trying to charge me for no insurance evenn thoughhhh i had the renewal certificate...... I was just like "mate, you got no evidence that i'm not insured, and i do have evidence that i am, you bleedin numpty" :p

I imagine that in the terms and conditions of your insurance it states that you need to be fit to drive for the cover to be legit, i.e. not under the influence....

If person A punched you once... and person B punched you 4 times... would you care about person A complaining about what person B got for it?

All I'll say is good luck getting insurance once your ban is up.

I have found a few quotes about already and they're only around £3k... Basically first year premiums of new drivers enit.

Only £3k! Fair enough that's with a drink driving charge but that's like 6 times the value of the car.

That's double what my first year premium was and that was only back in 2005.

Seems to me young people these days have somehow been brainwashed into thinking a quote under £5k is cheap!

My first year was four times ithe car's value but it doesn't matter. You've gotta insure the car if your gonna use it end of. And 3 grand aint all that bad. I got a dd ban fair enough, but the fact is you're always gonna tell the insurance company to drop a bollock when you see what they want from you, doesn't stop you getting ins in the end.

You tend to find people who get banned for drink driving get a lower renewal premium than those who get banned for speeding. The thinking is, drink drivers will not do it again where as speeders will, there are always a few who buck the trend though!

yeh you try and convince yourself thats its 'only' £3000 lol

edit: and no my first year was about half that

Just out of curiosity - how much did you drink? :)

3k is a fortune though; i thought 650 was bad for my first year! :/

Exactly, speeders will always speed. They get off lightly with just 3 points and a 60 bob fine. Whereas drink drivers WILL get banned and WILL get a criminal record. Stops you doing a lot of things you otherwise could.

And yeah...? £3,000 is a lot of money fair enough, but end of this year i'll have twice that in savings. Will be easy :) My first year was 1800 but recently insurance quotes have just hit the roof enit. Mate of mine on a 1.4 cityrover has been assfucked out of 4500 for his.

Well, i'd had 6 pints... But i don't 'hide' alcohol very well once i've had it. Was a bit...well, i was fuckin' rat assed, not gonna lie. Thought i would've blown a new record on the breath test but much to my surprise i wasn't even twice the limit (felt like i would've been at least 4 times).

Your a complete idiot tbh  But atleast your man enpugh to admit it.

And its funny you say that about your mums friend, my uncle (whoo is also a idiot), has been done for the 4th DD, only got 12 month ban and a £200.

Should be banned for at least 4 years imo, may be made to visit family of victims who have been killed by DD`s as well, to see the consequeces of what there actions may result in.

Just my 2p.

Don't get your hopes up that its 'only' going to be 3k, if you think that insurance is going to be the same when your ban is up then you must be retarded. A quote is only good for like 30 or some thing, if you think the quotes your getting now will compare to those you will get when you ban is up your off your head.

Also were these quotes you got on those price comparison websites? Because when I actually phoned up to take one of them out they almost doubled the quote I had been given on the net :disgust:

3k is crazy money i paid a third of that on my first year and i live in the slums of a small seaside town, next to a loads of thieving smackheads, i'm glad you are man enough to admit you have been a willy but what worries me is that you still got in a car after knowing you have had six pints......

The difference is, with the bloke that's on his 4th - if he does it again, he;ll probably get locked up.

So i might've got it wrong about £3k being around first year premiums... lol, but still, they aren't all that cheap. Ones i've found are around twice most people's first year then - still affordable, albeit a fucking piss take!!

As far as getting in a car after 6 pints again... Nooooo way lol, if i'm going for a drink i'll be taking my bike.

What lupoluke said was very valid too... People should be made to visit families who have lost loved ones through DD accidents. Although not sure if that would really make any difference to me - When i woke up next morning in the cell, not gonna lie, i had a little quiet cry to myself. Not cos "ohh boo hooo i'm losing my licence", but cos of "holy shit...i drove to northampton and don't even remember doing it. what if i hit someone!?" Tbh that's enough for me never to do it again.

i saw on i think it was road wars some guys on a push bike get pulled by the rozzers cuz he couldn't really ride he was that pissed i think the drunken call to parents or siblings to pick you up is a winner tbh

It was on the news a few months back, a guy lost his licence for driving a pink barby battery powered kids toy home from the pub, and there have been numerous people loosing their licence for driving golf buggies and motorised wheelchairs, as in the eyes of the law they are all motorised transport!! even though you do not need a licence to drive these

Thats just Fucking ridiculous. The feds really do get on my tits what with their 'meeting targets'. Policing isn't policing any more. Just meeting their Fucking targets... Trying to do me for no insurance and taking people's licences from 'driving' a Fucking barby scooter! Get the fuck out! Mini rant over...

If I remember rightly, it's still against the law to use a push bike when under the influence? and pretty damn dangerous too!?

If you were completely sloshed because you can't take your drink very well as you said, I'd advise a taxi, bus or a nice relaxing walk home next time instead of chancing the balancing act of using a bike!

  • Author

Haha, as if... Ah well, they can't take my licence from me if i'm on my bike... No 'driving' licence needed! I would walk like, but i couldn't take more than 3 steps without falling over (i'm not bragging by the way)... Far from relaxing! To be honest, riding a bike would be so much fun when like that. My route back is fields and a rarely used back road.

If you cant walk 3 steps without falling over when you was drunk, god help you on a push bike! Comedy lol! but like i said in your last topic, surely you've had enough abuse about this? You done the crime, now you know what you've got to face just leave it there? but then again who am i, no one :)
