The shell's the last of the problems one faces restoring one of those. The seat trim alone cost more than I've spent on my Polo,let alone building a 1071cc S-spec unit. People have spent the best part of £30,000 to restore them,with their resulting value once completed being only half that.

I appreciate minis that have been restored to original condition, but the thing that pisses me off are the owners that think they are better than everyone else.

If i went ahead with putting a V-tec into a van, id get so much hate from originalists it'd be a joke. Because vans are rare now haha. Saw a rusty shell in need of a lot of tlc, for 1.5K the other day.

That's not in bad nick at all compared to some of the restos I've seen,well worth the money asked,it probably went to the US where they were buying them up. Or Japan,who love them even more.

I nearly bought it, it was at a time when i was looking for a project. but it really was too far gone.

There wasn't a panel that was usable. Even the roof had rust in the gutter. Hardest part to weld. It pretty much needed a new shell. And there are van panels that you can no longer get.

If its fixable, they go on average for over 1K even in a state. Its a price I'd be willing to pay too, thats the bad thing

I've always been an american car fanatic. Fell in love with Dodges when I was about 3 VW's are a very recent thing for me, but I just love the euro and rat looks.

This is my dream car. My dad was lucky enough to pick it up for about 200 quid. I've had it since I was 15 so it's a long term project for me :)

on the subject of minis, a friend of mine did a days work for some guy in return for a mini that had damage the the front corner...fixed it up, sprayed it then sold it for 3.5k!

not bad for a days work if you ask me.
