Basically, when i dropped my car off and got a quote i was like 'yeah want all my bumpstrips smoothed' etc etc.

and the guy who i went with was talking about his smoothed badge recess on the boot because it has sank a little bit and he compared the recess size to mine (Because mine didn't have a badge on)

Picked it up today, all my bumpstrips are gone, but he smoothed the badge recess too.... which i really did not want, if anything, i'd want the handle done, i guess i'll have to stick my badge on without the recess...

buttt, i did get it done for free, but still, absolutely gutted.

Even though the boot isn't flat, there is a flat spot where i can stick the new badge, but it'll be a lot lower than standard..

That sucks. You could try and find someone with the same coloured car and offer them a swap.

Fuck that, i would've demanded a new boot there and then, it's not what you wanted so therefore you shouldn't have left without it being how you asked for it.

^^^Are you for real. What's he gonna do ask for his money back? If he'd have paid for it i'd say ask for the work to be undone/new bootlid but as it was free there's no way i'd have the cheek to ask for them to do even more work to fix it.

Yes I am! If you are paying someone to do a job for you (probably a shit load of money too!), you expect it to be done exactly how you wanted it. He obviously doesn't like the lack of badge now, and therefore it should have been corrected by the body shop. It was their error, so it is not cheeky asking for it to be reversed, or a new boot supplied.

If I had done some work for somebody for free and they came back and complained they'd have a size 10 steel toe cap sized dent in both rear quarter panels. Why would you want a VW badge anyway. I've got rid of mine on the new tailgate hopefully people won't recognise it and think its from a decent manufacturer like Ssanyong or Daihatsu :p

I disagree, it's not as if the bloke did it as a favour, it was his fuck up he shouldn't just assume prox wanted it done so they should sort it.

From what I understand it wasn't all free, he obviously paid to have the rubstrips done etc. I would expect that to be in the region of 400 quid anyway. I assume that when he said i didn't ask for the badge to be done they said oh okay well we won't charge you for that.

Personally I wouldn't have stood for it. If you had any sort of backbone and your initial reaction was "I don't like it" then something should've been done about it, not just accept it.

He asked for the the strips on the bumpers to be smoothed first which came too 280 front and back which the sprayer said it will take 3 days ...

then he wanted the side strips removed but didnt relise there was holes behind there so he had to weld and filler each side off them which cost him an extra 100 pound a side makeing the price 480 .. and for the boot we were talking about it when we where there so the sprayer thought he wanted it done too

did they fill the recess with just filler?

Sounds to me by the time he finally got round to doing it he'd forgotten what it was you wanted as he never wrote it down and from memory, obviously remembering something to do with the boot and the bump strips.
