did they fill the recess with just filler?

Cos that wont last long before it pops out and looks shit anyway!

yeh i think it just skimmed with filler, had mine done on my 6n on the badge recess and it has already started sinking when I'm guessing he used filler...

Ouch... well it'll be interesting to see what the car looks like a year on from now :smoke:

Slam the boot as had as you can, without smashing the glass.....

Tap it with a hammer from behind.

Make it fall out

I'd be worried though if its just filler... has he filled the holes for the bumpstrips or welded them like he should have done.

If I had done some work for somebody for free and they came back and complained they'd have a size 10 steel toe cap sized dent in both rear quarter panels.

agreed

So if you paid to have some paint corrected on your car and the chap doing it decided he would repaint the whole thing pink with purple flames up the side without asking you you'd be happy with this because it was free?

That maybe an extreme example but it is the same kind of situation. He's paid to have some thing done to his car and he's done some thing that he wasn't asked to do and he doesn't like. What kind of a body shop takes it upon themselves to do random things to customers cars any way?

Although I do agree its a bit late to be bitching about it now, should of grew some balls and told him you wanted it sorted there and then, but how do you expect to be taken seriously when your wearing women's clothes? if your gonna dress like a bitch then people will treat you like one. If you do decide to go and see him about it I suggest you dress up like a lumber jack, can't get much more manly than that

Ah didn't realise he'd paid for the smoothing but this was an added extra. Thought the whole lot was free. You should have complained and got them to sort it. I was thinking you'd had all the smoothing done for free and I was WTF-ing at people saying you should tell them to sort it thinking that they'd done it as a favour.

Yeah there was just confusion with my friend talking about his badge sinking and mine didn't have a badge on it, but all i actually said was the bumpstrips smoothed

£280 for both bumpers and £100 each side cause there's 9 holes that needed to be fibreglassed!

My solution is to just stick a badge on the boot, but a bit lower than the normal recess as its slightly curved, will be different i guess....

Pics?

After giving it a real quick clean i've taken some photos, really not happy.

Both of my indicator lens' are cracked and what's up with this paint? will this wax off or what?

is the paint flat or orange peely. Cant tell from pic.

Or is there overspray where theyve blended it in?

Looks orange peeley and looks like they've scuffed it with a machine polisher when cutting it back.

prox i feel for you man but that does look good glad to see you got your wheels sorted and all that

I'm sure youll think of a way to put the badge back in the same place or do as guy said and rattle the fuck out of it and it may just fall out lol

Am i in a position to complain?

Yeahh thanks man, i'll see how it goes :)!

I would take it back, yeah.

I reversed my Dad's car into a wall once and had to fork out to get it sorted at a body shop. The bumper was repaired but the paint wasn't a good match, so took it back and got it sorted. Don't be afraid to go back if you're not happy dude.

I'll let my dad the final say, he's home from work in a sec, see what's happeninggg

I'd also be asking why he fiberglassed any holes up, they should of been welded up. I can't see the pictures to well as I'm on my phone but they are Orange peeled then that's just not acceptable and you have every right to ask him to sort it out.

i've just applied some wax, waiting for it to dry, but then i'll not have a car for ages again...

Probably couldve done a better job yourself. Take it back and go all PMS at him.

wax will do nothing tbh

The paint needs to be mint. Orange peel will still show.

Like i said earlier, if I've ever had bad work done i kick up a fuss and get it sorted! You have to stand your ground to get what you want.

I wouldnt accept it if i was uphappy with it. If you know its there you're always going to notice it.

All the white stuff is gone, its a bit orange peely but i'm so so much happier now after giving it a good wax all over and a bit of paint renovator!

I think the boot looks smart mate.

:), positive comments are always welcome, i'm in two minds, just really can't figure it out

originally i did want it smoothed, but the handle and not the badge!

we'll see!

Years ago I read about a guy in a magazine who had a mk2 Golf. He took it to a bodyshop for some smoothing and they removed his front wipers and smoothed the holes over! I think he just wanted one or two doing as there are three altogether..

Luckily he lived in Arizona

Bumpers/sides look quite good all smooth..but smoothed tailgates just look poop. Having said that yours doesn't look too bad.

I would have told them when I first saw the car..'errr why is the boot smoothed?!'

As above ,however i do like that boot how it is. I hate them when its just the badge done like my old 6n but theres somthing about yours i like!

Although if you didnt ask for it , i would go in there untill they corrected it. Even if it means them buying a new tailgate and spraying it
