bassically i have a leak coming from the headgasket been to a garage they said that water and oil is leaking. For example i have to top it up

around every 2-3 weeks in which this time it goes from full to around a quater left I'm just wondering if it will last to UD its around i 2 hour drive i think much appreciated

theres still time to fix it! and if you've been driving it round for weeks like it i'd be tempted to risk it

I'm tempted I'm a stonemason i dont have a clue about cars ! people been telling me just to put a new gasket on for now then get it skimmed up after :S i really dont know !!

If its not over heated then it should be fine to just swap out the gasket.

nah it hasnt been overheating might just get a new gasket get some mates to help me fit it and see what happens take some water and oil etc

and the AA card ha !does anyone know any must do's when changing it ?

i drove my mk2 from brighton to birmingham and back in the same day with a fucked headgasket, but i also got stranded in wiltshire on a separate journey because of a fucked headgasket so it really is just luck.

If its not over heated then it should be fine to just swap out the gasket.

mine was warped and it didn't over heat.

best check it with a straight edge before putting it back on, no point doing the job twice.
