i have some new wheels, however since i cant seem to swap barrels with anyone I'm looking into how hard it will be to make 8j work on the front of a polo gti 6n2.

offsets not a problem as i need adaptors so can have custom made to any offset spec.

the start off set is 49.

i have been informed that it cant be done, but until i find some ne barrels its the only way.

It can be done. Goonies never say die.

BUT.. You'll need to get the grinder out as where the bumper meets the arch, the fixing is on the very edge (just take the arch liner out and have a feel and you'll see what I mean). You will have to cut this fixing away and relocate the bumper fixing further away from the arch (about 2 inches). Then you'll need to roll the arch FULLY flat. I would 100% recommend a professional bodyshop to roll the arches as the 6n2 have clip fixings on the inside of the arch for the arch liner to fasten to - which very easily cause ripples whilst rolling. You'll also need to mod the arch liner or remove it completely.

Then for tyre size I would go 195/40/16 for a healthy stretch and an original-ish rolling radius. ET I would aim for is a 32-35. This will make the wheel sit flush with the arch.

Oh, and expect the ARB to sit on the chassis of the passenger side and the driveshaft to knock on the drivers side. Chassis notching will be needed for lows.

the 6n2 is a real bastard to lower.

If you want me to go into the arch cutting a little further let me know. But I will require a picture of a hot blonde underwear model for my satisfaction (nothing NSFW please).

I'm glad you say it can be done. thats made my day, may get them on before the show season ends now

the arch rolling and bumper joint mod are not a problem, i will happily do that. i had noticed this when i first had the car in the air and thought id eventually need to get rid of that :-)

the car is rubbing like mad on standard wheels as it is already very low.

the wheels are et49 porsche fitment so a 15mm adaptor should take them to 34, which is pretty much in the midle of what you said would sit flush.

the chassis notch isnt a problem.

i have decided I'm going to remove the arch lines all together than treat them with underseal, that way i can monitor them better and prevent them rusting, where as if i trim the liner it will leave pockets to gather dirt in..

I'm hopinga 15mm adaptor will allow me to clear the coils and the brakes. i should imagine it would.

the tyre size you mentioned, i reasearched before and it should give a nice stretch and be within 1% of the original RR.

i will email a few places regarding the rolling as I'm guessing they will need rolling and pulling slightly.

but my main problem will be the arch/bumer join?
