Insurance

Featured Replies

I was a bit of a prat on Sunday, and after coming out of the work car park i manage to knock into this guys car. Was only going about 8mph, but his door got slightly caved in. Hardly any damage to mine at all. Was a case of, i looked right while he came round a corner on the left, then when i looked left again he was out my periferal vision. Was only when my eyes snapped forwards when i saw the back end of his car!!

Obv its my fault, and we had arranged for his car to be repaired at a local garage at my expense. However he then went to the insuance company and submitted a claim, so now for some reason I'm faced with a £1200 bill as he wants a settlement, or i lose 2yrs no claims and have a record on my name for the next 3-5 years. Which obv will push the premium up. I didnt know what else to do, so i have written a complaint letter to the insurance people cos i dont think they have done their job correct and valued his car at an appropriate figure. Not much else I can do now.

Any thoughts on possible other avenues to pursue???

sounds like he has been a right prick you admit it was your fault arrange to have the car repaired without the insurance and he puts a claim in after this id refuse to pay the garage bill and tell the insurance it wasnt your fault and he was driving in a careless manner unless he has a witness then your stuck but you can still refuse the bill if it goes through insurance
