Any one know anything about impreza's?

Featured Replies

I'm thinking of buying a scooby in the summer for a bit of a change from vw's :?

Any one know much about the non turbo gx's? I've been on a subaru forum but all I've seemed to get is dont buy a non turbo???

Are they that slow? I'm not really in it for performance i just want a nice four wheel drive.

All opinions welcome....

any impreza without a turbo is gonna be shit, sorry

x2 ^

seems pointless :p, my dad had an 03 WRX SL (Sunroof + Leather) 2.0T, was amazingly smooth, going like 80+ and not even realising.

I always think of them to be boring inside, but i do rate them.

no........ they didnt win the World rally championship over and over agian because there shit.

personaly know two lads round here both with bugeyed wrx's and there cars have be flawless over 7-10years.

Standard sports are 123bhp? so its not going to be a slouch.

on the whole anything german or japanese

i woudnt class 123bp as slow i mean 1.9tdi passat is 120 and they are pretty fast, petrols are in need of a turbo as much as a diesel, best way is just to take one on test drive then you'l know what you want

People don't half make me laugh on here.

Drivers of 6n2s having the cheek to call a scooby boring because its not got a turbo.

Standard sports are 123bhp? so its not going to be a slouch.

are you crazy?

123bhp in a car that size is going to be shit slow, and no 1.9tdi passats are not fast, wtf have you people been driving?

my mate had the older style scooby turbo which i drove a few times and i loved it, i wouldn't own one but not because they are shit just because they ain't my thing. but the only reason i loved it was because of how it went, take that away from it and you might as well just by a Mondeo, it's gonna do every thing a scooby 'sport' does just as well but for a fraction of the price and more friendly insurance wise. infact probably the only thing a Mondeo couldn't do as well as a non turbo scooby, is make people instantly think "he couldn't afford a proper impreza"

Scoobys are sick. This one was mincing around the estate a few months back. I honestly have never seen anything launch like that, in my life (other than at santa pod)

Its was fucking crazy, and the noise it made :o

And Guy you fanny, blanking my PM

i wasn't blanking it, i was going to reply to it tomorrow when i'm at work, it'll give me some thing to do while i'm training the new lad up

i've got a few to reply to mate but i'd rather do it while i'm being paid

think the figures where 0-60 in 9 something seconds.... so i wouldnt class it as boring.

he does say he only wants it for the awd.

he does say he only wants it for the awd.

he may as well get a off roader, at least then he'll have the ground clearance to go with it.

that's as near as dam it the same bhp as a polo gti but about3-400kg heavier coupled with the lack of efficiency the 4 wheel drive system adds... and it hits 60 quicker than the polo?

usually owned by middle aged men going through a mid life crisis, that haven't quite got over the big bore exhaust larke!

not only that but there expensive when they go wrong,

drink fuel like a godd'un and expensive on insurance!

Proper ones are savage though.

Saloon cars that play with the big boys.

its what wiki says

Probably wrong and there quoting a different engine.

thought gti's where quicker than 9? my polos isnt far off that

buy a fiat panda 4x4 for its four wheel drive.........

We used to have a couple of non turbo legacys as a workhorses. They had the 2.0 and the 2.2, both went pretty well, not mind blowingly fast by any stretch of the imagination though. Although they had less power than a polo gti, the extra 400cc definately makes up for it with more torque. They sound pretty nice too.

I bought both of them both for sub £50 (live near a farm) and they went on for ages and just would not die, however from my experience they seem to have weak clutches and wear quite quickly.

Parkers are saying 9.1 to 60 too which i can very much believe.

Ok, well thanks for the reply's.

If I'm honest I could afford the insurance on a turbo but I've got better things to spend money on. I'm just after something different as I've sat behind a vw steering wheel since was 17.

I've looked at all sorts of other cars recently and the only thing that has stood out and been in my price range is an impreza.

I might phone the insurance company and see what the difference is between the sport and wrx.

get your golf remapped instead, it'll be faster and you wont have to put up with the HIDEOUS interior inside an impreza. Not to mention everyone pointing and laughing "haha you couldnt afford a turbo one" as you drive past ;)

Evabot that's the wrong shape impreza and surely that only adds weight to my argument? it has the same power as the later version but weights about 400kg's less and that does 60 in 9 second. The bug eye ones weigh about a ton and a half iirc, that's a lot of weight for such a small amount of power to drag around

I've thought about mapping the golf but I'm just bored of it....

The golf is good but like I said I'm after something different now and all the other alternatives are boring compared to an impreza.

I'm looking at spending around £3500 so what else is their that looks good handles well and isn't VAG? It needs to be no less than 10 years old too.....

Got to agree with this. I have supposedly 181bhp and 4 more cylinders than most people but my car is by no means fast.

BHP means nothing and is gay, torque is where it's at!

I'm surprised nobody has mentioned that turbo lag could get pretty boring.
