I'm surprised nobody has mentioned that turbo lag could get pretty boring.

Yes I could indeed be waiting for ever for the turbo to spool up on a non turbo impreza. 8-)

if you drove around all day changing gear just before it comes on boost, then yes i guess turbo lag could get pretty boring.

I have to agree with most other comments, performance wise its going to be pretty unremarkable but the interiors in the bugeye's aren't as bad as the classic's or as people are saying.

Dont think turbo lag would be a problem on a pretty standard turbo model.

Id just get one with a turbo, false investment otherwise. They are mean gypsy wagons though!

I'm pretty sure there was a large degree of irony/sarcasm in his post haha

Any one know much about the non turbo gx's? I've been on a subaru forum but all I've seemed to get is dont buy a non turbo??

There was a small amount of sarcasm slipped in there as I did mention I was after a non turbo model.

My mates got a bug eye sport that has been made to look like a turbo one, complete with massive jap backbox. I must say on a hill it feels really gutless.

I have always had a soft spot for the non turbo prezzas, you get a low box etc. They always strike me as a good work horse, but I could never afford to run one.

Scoobys are not my cup of tea, but the other apprentice at my work has a jap spec WRX, 275bhp standard and my god does it go, the 4 wheel drive seems to shove it along so well.

However, someone at work has a 2.0 non turbo model and its pretty slow really, slower than my ibiza GTi was, and my ibiza was only an 8v model. Look at something with a small turbo engine or something, a nice Glanza would be what I would buy for that money if you want a jap car.

The galanza's a nice little cars and do fly with a few tweeks, but its not really performance I'm after.

The scooby seems to just tick all the boxes I'm looking for as its slightly bigger than the golf, looks better and would stop me wasting my money on making my golf look and drive the way i want it too.

I've seen a few wrx replicas and i feel that if i had one although its not going to go like a wrx it will stop me messing with my cars and keep me satisfied with the looks and handling and extra space that i need.
