I've got a 1.0 1996 6n and because of insurance reasons its the biggest engine size i can have( shit i know ) so i was wondering if there's any way of turboing it to make it more powerful because its starting to annoy me :/

Yes its possible - but will cost a fortune!

If your going to Turbo the car, that will make your insurance more than say a 1.4 16v or something!

TBH your more likely to succeed turboing a 1l 6n than a 1.4 16v

Yer pretty much but i like speed and 1.0s jsut not quick enough, i was only looking at options anyway, it will be a while before anything happens

not worth it, and it will go bang in a few days if done cheaply.

Better to do an engine conversion, say a 16v - it will be ALOT more reliable than a 1.0l T and cheaper to do, and dont bother if you cannot afford the insurance.

if you want to turbo your 1.0 at least do it properly, get it insured and legit.

A friend of mine turboed his 1.1 peugeot 106 for about 30 quid, it lasted about 4000 miles before blowing a rod through the side of the block at about 120mph

anyway my advice would be forget making the engine bigger/more powerful (as that will just increase the insurance and therefore pointless) and focus your effort on weight reduction.

my mk2 is stripped out as I use it mainly for carrying drum kits and amps... when it's got no equipment in it's nippy due to weighing nothing and having a well looked after engine!

a good service - plugs, filters oil and belts made a HUGE difference to my 1.0l

stick out the lack of power and enjoy life

6n 1.0L after being turbo'd would last like 5 mile.... pointless!

I don't get why people buy polo's and expect to make a racing car out of it for 20 pence by buying a turbo off ebay.

It wont work mate and if you did get it working the gain would be laughable.

Bare minimum you will need to get this s**t working:

the turbo, uprated rods and pistons, a fat head gasket, uprated fuel system (injectors fuel pump ect) a full ECU remap.

Total cost £3000+... probably 3-4 times what the cars worth.

If you want to go fast for 20p strip the interior totally. Put small wheels on the car (this has the effect of gearing down the car).

Top end will be ass but the acceleration will be toxic if you take a corner too quick with a stripped interior the car will oversteer

and you will be killed.
