R32 Insurance £4500

Featured Replies

Hey people,

Basically a mate of mine who is 17, wants to get a Golf R32 06 plate, now when he gets an insurance quote online it says £4500

but when he calls them up to confirm they go no that's not the price, they re check his details and tell him that the actual quote should be £50,000

yea that's right, £50k for an R32

the insurance company, whom i don't intend on naming, says that the £4500 is the default price :S

Should they not give it to him for £4500 since its the price they quote?

Regards,

Jay

too high a risk in otherwords. they dont want to insure him. hence asking 50K.. no idiot would pay that. therefore he wont get insurance with them.

And no, they shouldn't. It will be in the smallprint somewhere.

that will end one way and that is death

He must have more money than sense.

Literally makes me feel sick...

How could he have renewed his insurance yet still be 17. :?

No way on Earth would I be paying anything like that mind, as in on his current Golf. I've just got a quote on a Leon FR for 1,900. Which I don't think it too bad, although paying for the car could be a problem.

6K just to drive a 1.4 golf.

Fuck that right off

I'd wanna be sat in a Porsche for that kinda money.

his parents bought him the car when he was 16, for him to learn on & he paid that much on a provisional license and then he got his full license n is still paying the full amount

Are u 17? coz that really is not a bad price, for insurance on a Leon FR

I see, I'd want it to be the GT for that still.

No should have mentioned that, 19. But still, I was thinking of getting a Pug 207 GT 1.6T for more than that next, but I've fell in love with the FR.

Personally wanted to move over to 1 of the following 3:

Scooby, Evo 6 or RX7

Issue being all turbo cars, need 2000miles service interval and are costly to look after. Because if u upgrade one thing you have to upgrade another and currently i don't have the finance to do that :(

Then i thought may be a Toyota Starlet GT Turbo but I don't know i need a company car, starting up my own business and I would be traveling up and down London and home counties a lot, looking to keep costs low but still make sure the car is good.

Thats guys parents are mental or loaded or both!!

I see far too many twats in Saxos stacking them as they think they are fast! a 17 year old with a R32 the parents want to bump him off as he is draining there money!!!

I only pay £250 fully comp!

Marcus

£12000 to insure a 1.4 Golf over two years!

Add the price of the Golf and that's a deposit for a house right there!

Insurance companies have sense sometimes because you are more likely to crash within your first year of driving, hence why its cheaper to buy and insure an old car. Why didn't he or his parents save all that money, buy him an older Golf for the first couple years then once he has some NCB and is a bit older then think about an R32?

Because I know for me, I'm 23, and if I had £12000 to blow on a car all that would buy and insure a Mk4 R32 and give me change to fuel it for a year.

does your friend have a brain!?

People who get given things on a plate don't tend to think about such things

a standard starlet will give you 35mpg ish easy, take the cat away and it gets worst as i found out, they love miles and are cheaper in every way compared with the others you have listed. also can be made to be quicker than all of the above but then more fuel costs.

and wow at paying 6k for a 1.4 golf, this guy is mad,

Edited by rustproof 16v

i once got an insurance quote on a twin turbo r34 skyline worth 50k when i was 17 for 16,000. which tbf, i didnt think was too bad. haha then got another quote for 5,000 for a 5.2l v8 chevy belair.

i have too much time on my hands.

So his first car was a 1.4 Golf insured for £6000 and he wants to change to an R32

Sounds like a spoilt idiot to me.

Pretty much my thoughts on this. Then again I've got an unemployed mate whose on his second father paid for and insured 6N (wrote the first one off) and id say hes a spoilt

lololol

my friend had a 182 cup clio, first car - 2.0 16v passed his test at 17, he paid £12400 insurance, i didn't believe him then he showed me and my friends the documents, un fucking real the car was quick as hell, he ended up selling it and getting a saxo vts 1.6 16v which he still aint got on the road, but hes loaded as fuck!

ABSOLUTE MADNESS

some people just have no clue i felt like a mug for having paid £2700 for this (not as a first car but it came up cheap (£1600) after a year or so...

mmmmmmm.jpg

but i came to my senses after 2 months and a crash and realised i was fine with my oldies or comfort cars rather that the omg look at my car its soo cool :smoke:
