Hi guys my 6ns boot lock won't work. its always open. If I put the key in and try to turn to lock it doesn't turn at all is there some sort guide to tell me how to get the barrel out and give it a good clean or is it a buy a new lock?

There is a guide in the haynes manual. But to simplify it:

1. Remove the screw from inside the boot handle.

2. Ease the boot trim off, should come off with a little bit of pressure round the edges.

3. There is a clip that holds the barrel into the boot, remove this (it is located near the lock end of the barrel (where you put your key in on the outside))

4. Disconnect the rod that unlatches the boot (its a metal rod with a white plastic clip on the end)

5. Remove the barrel from the boot.

Then it's as simple to take apart as:

1. Remove the circlip from the end (be careful not to lose it)

2. Remove the metal part it was ontop of.

3. Withdraw the barrel from inside the housing.

4. Clean :)

If you wish, I can photocopy the pages in the Haynes if it will help

would that be a problem to photo copy me the pages? i haven't got round to buying a manual yet I've got manuals for every other car

Mine occasionally refuses to lock and i do have to slam it a few times. Is mine a similar problem and could do with a clean?

Personally I would say yes, there is no harm in cleaning it out :)

TomMK2 - here are the 2 pages from the haynes manual. Hope they make sense. Follow the information for removing the 'Tailgate lock handle' but you can stop once you get to paragraph 6.

thats super just had a go though cant get the barrel out

thanks for the help it works just need a new latch now so it shuts without slaming it :)

so you managed to get the barrel out then? I had to knock mine out by using the head of a wheel bolt against where the key goes in :)

To be honest, try removing the latch as well as I had the same problem, but since refitting it, it shuts better with minimal slamming :)

Little tip - when you put the barrel back in, put the clip in FIRST then you can push-fit the barrel into the clip and it will hold tight (don't do what I did, put it back together and forget about the clip )

i used my brain and used a small socket and hammer to knock it out but defo needs a newe latch no matter how much i adjust everything i still have to slam the c***

i'd considered using a socket but didn't want to damage them so used an old wheel bolt I had lying around. I guess I was lucky then :) mine closes alot smoother now since I took it off.

I bought a new boot catch as mine is chipped so i have to slam it...can't get the bloody thing off though aha so i've left it xD

If you mean the latch, its just 2 star-bolts holding it in along with a plug and metal rod if the bolts don't move, WD40 them! Usually works for me

Yeah I gave up after about 5 mins of trying, had run out of wd-40 at the time, got more since then just haven't been bothered to give it a go haha

Give it another go. Shouldn't need much force to remove them to be fair :) I don't think mine had ever been off and came off no problem :)
