Thank you for all the nice comments, but sadly, I fancy a change. Possibly even away from a Polo! If anyone in Scotland is interested in this, drop me a PM. Mileage 60k, FSH. Would like to gauge interest!

Such a lovely colour wanted one like this

Quick questions, where did you get the centre caps for the wheels from?

  • Author

Ha, thanks Randell6n2blue. You brought this back from the depths!

And Reed18 they're standard caps that come with the 16v alloys. I just removed the plastic VW decal from the front which reveals an embossed/moulded VW logo. HTH

May as well post some up-to-date pictures to keep this thread alive.

Thank you for the nice comments guys. Not a lot happening with this at the moment, but it's got a long way to go until I'm happy with it.

MOT is in a couple of weeks so it'll only look worse for a wee while.

Plans after that include:

-Lower

-New wheels (trying to do something 'different' is near impossible these days!)

-GTi Xenons, or at least un-gash the Angel eyes. Eulch.

-Got a GTi tailgate that I'm painting with handle mech deleted.

-Blacken up the interior.

-Ideally fresh paint all over.

-various other wee touches

Oh and I have an AVY lump sitting waiting to go in when I get the time!

We'll see how much of that actually comes to fruition.

Right, it's about time I started to actively update this thread. Might actually get a fresh build thread going to keep things tidy.

So I got the car MOT'd with no advisories. With that out the way, it was time for some changes.

I've been trying out ideas for the interior. Which includes this custom gearstick gaiter

BD0BFFEB-0097-4133-A78A-EC60861EECB8-166

Then some black interior plastics

I've also taken my Colour Concept Recaros out so I can repair the driver's bolster and sort out the heating loom. It also prevents them getting dirty/damaged while I do the mechanical side of things.

I've been building up the AVY I. Preparation for it going in in the near future. Won a cheap 4-1 mani on eBay for a bargain. It at least looks the part.

Now onto the most exciting update! I got my finger out and got a proper chassis notch sorted at the weekend. Big thanks to my friend Guy for his welding/fabrication skills! Here are some pics along the way

It's not been properly finished and dressed, but it's fully welded in and temporarily painted to protect it until I can get some underseal on it.

So now I could go lower, this is where I got it after the notch. It'll still be going lower but I'm holding out 'til my new wheels arrive and I do some underbody modifications.

Then the obligatory big car vs little car shot I got outside my work.

FC3B8CA7-B42C-443F-A86C-551C99B081F9-166

You may have noticed I've gone all oem on the front end. I think it looks miles better, so I'll be sticking to that from now on, minus the wheels...

Loving the work you put into this! Keep it up! Cant wait to see what wheels go on this

Cheers! There are just so many little odd bits needing done to it, it'll take a while. My new wheels arrived yesterday actually. Not giving the game away just yet, but I'm very excited to get them on!

My favourite 6n2

Look at getting some Fks. As my Jom are old and wont go lower. Whats the set up your running on them man? Thanks

Wow that is so low how do you drive it around lol

Looks really nice though i must say

Aw, c'mon. That's a secret! 8-)

I know everyone always says it, but the roads up my way really are awful! All things considered however, it's really not too bad. Thanks man, the ride height is an aesthetics thing.

Well my new wheels arrived, and I couldn't wait to trial fit them and see what I was working with.

C84FA558-0DFE-47F5-8985-C0A789FA49CA-109

Turned out not as bad as I was expecting believe it or not. My impatience shows by just how dirty the car is. Woops.

The poke at the front.

In other news, I have a much more elegant solution for this problem in the works:

A5ABFEEB-2BAB-4177-BC82-F8F31DE642AA-109

It's going to be a multi functioning solution that will solve several problems at once, making it less of a chore to work on the car.

In a moment of boredom and stupidity I lowered the front about 15mm more.

I've yet to sort out the rake, but this is how it sits:

Loving this thread! If you ever decide to sell those wheels, I am after a set of standard SE ones! ;) Drop me a PM.

Also, your original number plate is eerily similar to mine... X636 JSU, although we both now have private plates on!

Thank you. :) Well after the arch work to get the new wheels fitted I'll be on the lookout for some better fitting winter wheels (I have an idea). So anyway, they may be up for grabs. I'll give you first refusal if/when I'm wanting rid of them!

Secrecy is for gay's but the low's up front i like..

I know, I know. I don't like being one of those guys with the teaser pics. I just knew I wouldn't get round to buying tyres soon enough after the test fit. I don't want people getting bored 8-)

Love your 6n btw! Think I commented on your build on e38, and I'm always popping over to the 6n section on here to see your progress. :-D

Car looks Mean bro! loving the look and want that plate lol!
