I was worried how they'd look, but in pretty happy with the results myself. Thank you. :) The floral fabric was just a little bit of fun so things weren't too dark and bland. :)

There are no exciting updates on this at the moment. Smashed my sump even with an engine raise. Mainly due to my subframe being dangerously worn. Not cool. Anyway, I've raised it a touch just to preserve the subframe and new sump, pending bigger engine raise and modified subframe!

Will update this thread as soon as things get exciting again. Rear disc conversion and GTi engine going in as soon as I get a free weekend. :)

Well I haven't updated this in a while, and this is why:

The old engine is out, in preparation for the AVY lump to go in. Also the full interior is stripped out because I had to change the interior loom to the AVY one because my previous (AKK) loom was infected by an awful aftermarket alarm.

I don't like to make promises, but the engine's running so should have some updates after this weekend.

Right, so I didn't really stick to my promise...ha

The engine conversion was completed in time for Edition38, but sadly I couldn't afford to tax & insure the car for the journey down, as well as the fuel costs (750 mile round trip).

I'd really pushed myself to get it done in time with the limited facilities and free time that I had. It was a bit of a shame at the time, but looking back I'm glad I didn't take it. I'd only had one day to test drive it, and as it turned out, my alternator wasn't charging the battery. That would have been a nice surprise 50 miles into the journey!

Anyway, here's the update up to the current date.

Dash going back in with GTi clocks. The advantage of using the AVY interior loom meant that I could easily connect up the climatronic control & heater matrix. (I'm not running Air Conditioning, though).

The disadvantage, however, is that the GTi interior loom doesn't accomodate for certain features in the 'lower spec' Polos. In this instance, I had an electric sunroof and manual headlight range adjustment. (As opposed to the GTi loom's auto-levelling setup).

The elegant solution was to trace back the wiring to the fuse box on my old interior loom, take it out and retro-fit it to the GTi interior loom & fusebox. It means that the GTi fusebox will still correspond correctly to a 6n2 fusebox diagram.

Here's what I did to convert the auto-levelling setup to the manual adjustment connection, by just changing the connector and adding in the extra wiring required to adjust levelling.

I had to put new subframe bolts in when I changed the wishbones. The bolt heads sat on the floor, so I had to grind them back so I could get the car to move a little easier...

I was pretty gutted for not getting it to any show in 2013, and had almost given up on it. So I sold the wheels, and was trying to convince myself to break it for parts.

I very luckily managed to strip a full canyon red front end off a better condition 6n2 at the scrappies, which means no more ruined front wings, stoned chipped bonnet, and flaky bumper. (At a much cheaper cost to a respray). Hopefully the colours will match well, but I've yet to see.

Anyway, that's it for now! More to come, hopefully.
