I know Max , but I'm just cutting corners trying to get it sorted , has been a shit year all round and no point breaking it now .

If it stops raining ill get the old injectors back in and see from there .

Just see if the current ones are firing? spark at all plugs etc. Belt hasn't skipped a tooth etc

All in good time Maximus .

Well welcome back to this years thrilling episode of polo bodgery , If i remember correctly (its been a while) i did indeed make it to spring fest 2013 in the old Polo which is about the last time it turned a wheel . Poor old thing has been dumped in the works yard since then but under threat from boss "ill feckin move the thing for you with the forklift " i thought i better get it shifted, not helped by the fact i had 2 more cars stored there as well .

So its in its new home although it wouldnt start , was fairly waterlogged to be fair though , however with renewed enthusiasm I've been up tonight to run a few checks .

So whats going on i hear you ask , well after a good week or so drying out with the dehumidifier in the container we appear to have some electrics working reliably , good voltage at the battery , swapped the coil over for a known working unit as it didnt seem to have that great a spark , I've not got a rain tray fitted currently which has caused some issues with the fuel pump relay but have dried and cleaned all the contacts and now have working fuel pumps .

However its still not starting , so I'm getting a spark but am i getting any fuel ? Err no , no fuel at the fuel rail it appears , hmmm so first things first lift pump , undo cover pull pipe off turn key and yes we have fuel from the lift pump , hmmm ,under we go, whoever designed the fuel pump arrangement under these cars wants shooting by the way . So fuel goes from lift pump to white plastic box thingy (accumulator) and yep we have fuel , I'm now covered init as well , ho hum , next is main fuel pump and yeehah we have fuel which is a relief as i didnt fancy pissing around trying to find a replacement which of course leaves fuel filter which yep youve guessed it is blocked . So I've removed the complete assembly from under the car as its been held up with various cable ties for god nows how long and could do with tdying up , going to try and source the rubber mounting bushes tomorrow and new filter and hopefully itll fire up .

I love the smell of petrol in the evening , it smells like victory !

Stay tuned bodge fans , see you next year :)

Yay yay yay!!

Love you mark

Well this had made my day already.

Who's up for a club polo working on marks car?

You mean a club polo slowing down progress massively on marks car?

Ha ha , thanks Gents , and do you really think progress could get any slower?

Anyway we're back in the game , new fuel filter fitted and its alive ! Couldnt find any bush thingys locally but a few listed on ebay so ill get them ordered shortly , got a four branch manifold to fit next , needs an extra lambda boss fitting first , arb blocks as well and try and get the exhaust system fitted properly at last .

BOOM

Still love you.

:D Love you too , To cut a long story short i have a new Job, which meant id occasionally need a car, the picture above is of the good old GT passing its MOT reasonably easily which considering its been of the road for at least 3 years i didnt think was too shabby .

However it does have some issues , ARB blocks are now fitted and it needs the tracking doing badly but i need to do the steering arms first and there seems to be a wheel bearing groaning away so ill do all that in one go but will have to wait till the new year .

Drivers door handle has finally broken , it spent its early years in London and has obviously had an attempted break in at some point behind the handle , again ill sort this in the new year if i can find a reasonable indian red door .

Hot starts can be a bit hit and miss , im not sure on this at the minute , it did have a new Bosch battery 4 years ago but wether the long periods of no use have affected it , the slim starter are known to be a bit pants im going to give the ignition a refresh anyway so will see what improves the starting .

Otherwise its good to be back , oh and more laquer has fallen off :)

Cheers Mark
