mom or mum?

Featured Replies

Really random i know.. but its something I notice from time to time.

Some people say mom (like I) and others say mum...

Which is right or wrong? Or is either right? lmao.

It's spelt 'mum' but I sound way too Black Country if I pronounce it that way, so 'mom' for me.. even though I usually call my oldens by their names..

Though I've called her by her name since i was five - as she's my step mum it felt too weird to call her mum. Mother is a word I've never really used.

If I say this to her, she knows I want something  so don't use it often :)

mum definately....mummy dearest if I'm after something....lol

I say Mam and I'm no pikey. It's probably an 'up north' thing.

mum,

"Yes mother" (Sarcastically) if i'm joking or she tells me to do something

Clean your room, it looks like a bomb's gone off in there.

Yes mother,

3 weeks later and it's still not done :p

mom

Mother Dearest

both 'mum' and 'mam' for me. Think that's a Mancunian thing though. Just like how my older bro would say 'our kid' when talking about me.
