Today i bought some Mk2 golf banded steels 13"x8 on the rear and 7.5 on the front. i fitted them and they looked awesome, and how they looked looked like they would rub......i was sooo wrong. when the suspension had settled down it was clear that the arches would need rolling but I'm not sure if rolling them would be enough. quite gutted. any expertise would be great :) here it is.....

yeah i bought the car last year from a guy and his dad, been doing bits and bobs too it..and yeah they are wide...hence the rubbish arch issue!

haha i dont know the name of the colour sadly as it was that colour when i bought it..its kinda grey, but kinda mocha too! its nice :)

i dont know man, just an idea. i did it on my old caddy. just pop rivet'ed them on but i dont know how theyd fit on a polo. are you worried casue they poke too much? on the second pic down they look a perfect fit.

yeah that side i put them the wrong way round haha oops! I'm happy with how they look for sure just I'm not sure if just rolling the arches will be enough for them to fit. i dont want them rubbing on the shell after I've rolled the arches. ide be more unhappy ha how they sit is how the 3rd pic is

theres no chance they're gonna scrub unless you have a car full mate, i wouldnt worry about it

i think a lot of arch work would be needed to get these fitted right. check out iscariots old thread as he was running a similar setup and pulled it off very well

hahaha yeah that was me but those are different steels! thought ide give them a try and shit luck..i read your thread about your arches and all the did was fold the inner horizontal bits flat to the panel?!?!

Umm well basically i just rolled them then decided that it wasn't enough to stop it scrubbing so beat them out!

I wouldn't advise doing it though unless you got it done professionally.

Get em rolled and see what happens, i wanted to run super low so i had to flare them, but you might get away with just rolling them and running a lot of arch gap.

thats where I'm struggling with what to do. it looks like there's enough arch gap there but when you see it up close it looks like rolling the arches wouldnt be enough....damb wide steels making my life hell...but they look sooooooo good!

if they are still in production of course I've just seen the date xD what i mean is try rivet on arches or something similar it may pay off

Those universal arches could work on the rear but at the front they wouldn't, thats why they haven't been done I think.

they probably have on a g40 rally car or something but i've not seen them being used for this purpose

haha i wouldnt do my arches like that! although reading up alot on various sites aslong as you have a heat gun and something thats firm and rubber and you take your time with it its not too bad! thats the diy way anyways. 60 squid on ebay for a rented arch roller though!

those universal arches are'nt my bag man sorry..although the tape looks is awesome

arches have been rolled and steels are ok, also a few stickers and some euro pressed plates :) still not too happy with the hight of the front so will need to sort that out at some point!
