Hi, just changed my wheels - put some alloys on. They're 15", correct offset and just a bit wider. Anyway, when I'd fitted them and moved the car there were strange noises.

There are pinging and banging noises coming from what seems to be one rear drum.

When the car is in reverse it feels like it hits something and jolts the car.

The handbrake was pulling up really far, then it wasn't, and now I don't think the handbrake is on at all (thankfully my street is dead level).

Basically, what has happened, what needs doing and can it be anything to do with the change of wheels?

That'll be it! I bet you're right there! Dya reckon I've done much permanent damage?

only one way to find out really

shouldn't have done too much but depends on how far the studs went in

mmmm, will whip them out then when I can. Will have to find some shorter ones :( or get some spacers.

or...hack them down!

Thanks Yeti for your diagnosis - was spot on. Problem is sorted now and the brakes are all good...

Just still wondering if the front bolts were too long, would there be a problem there at all?

I just feel like there is some loss in power/the engine is having to work harder to get the car moving. It might just be me being paranoid coupled with the fact I've been driving the Bora for a few days without driving the Polo though.
