Hi all,

Just a topic here to see what the general consensus is on this one.

A guy on here bought some G60 carriers off me, I've now posted them (they're currently in transit to this guy)

Bearing in mind they're heavy, so i've packaged them properly and driven to the post office in my own time.

Now he's messaged me wanting a refund, I've asked him why and he's said he's decided he's selling the car and they're surplus to requirements etc.

Is it me, or is that not really my problem? As they're on their way to him, there's nothing wrong with them so i'm not entitled to give him a refund really.

You wouldn't buy a loaf of bread from a shop, then decide you didn't want it and return it, would you?

Any comments/suggestions.

Cheers,

panda.

You have done nothing wrong, he can always sell them on....

Sam.

i wouldnt give him a refund, he bought them to put on his car, then sold his car whilst the parts are on their way to him, thats his problem to sell them on as he no longer needs them

Personally I'd say it was up to him to sell them on again. It's not your problem that he's selling the car.

is he meant to send them back to you? once he's paid postage surely can't be worth it

i bought a induction kit for my 106 the day before it got wrote of and asked the seller if he had posted it which he had so just waited for it to turn up and sold on think i even made a £10 on top :-D

He said he's going to get them and send them straight back to me and demands a full refund.

Fact is though, they were about £12 to post iirc, so i'll be out of pocket and back to square 1. Plus all my costs for fuel, packaging materials etc.

well don't do it or if you do take the original postage packaging cost and a lil more for your time out

explain this to the guy and he'll probably work out it would be better for both of you if he just sold them on

I have explained this but he's still demanding a full refund.

Tell him you'll charge him storage fees for his carriers if he sends them back to you ;)

he shouldn't have bought them then sold the car, you had no hand in this it was all him, no refund

is he plannign on getting this full refund through paypal? as I would imagine that Paypal would not support this if there is no returns policy and there is nothing wrong with the product. lets just hope he posts them back non recorded on the cheap and they "never turn up"!

I don't know, but i've got the postage receipt, so he can't say I didn't post them... i'm pretty sure that means that with regards to paypal he doesnt have a leg to stand on?

IS it proof of postage or a tracking number? If its the forma, then paypal won't accept it as proof of delivery.

That aside... I wouldn't refund..

He's probably trying to pull the wool over my eyes!

It ain't your problem, i'd just tell him to sell them on and stop replying.

Now he says he's entitled to a full refund because it took me a week to package them and send them out after the money had cleared... I work 9-5 Monday - Friday.

He said he expects a better service and a refund because i'm an administrator.

Oh and he said he's going to escalate it higher.

The ownership of the car has no relevance what so ever, a legitimate transaction was carried out and as long as you have a form of proof for the postage dated before you were contacted, I would have no further worries.

There we go, proof of postage.

Really can't believe some people's attitudes towards buying parts second hand, at the end of the day he's made the payment, and will receive the goods, so unless there is something wrong with them, has absolutely no entitlement to a refund, it's at the sellers discretion surely? Often shops will honour a week or a month no quibble return just to keep face but that doesn't mean people selling stuff on here have to does it? At the very least he should expect to cover the postage cost both ways, but that's only if you're in a nice enough mood to accept the return at all.

Won't go into details but had a guy on here asking for a price on something I'm selling, I responded and he thought it was too much, but instead of make an offer or go away he kept replying telling me how overpriced it is, showing me other ones selling for less and telling me it was tat and it wouldn't sell.. what was expected here I don't know, I'm not fecking Currys, I don't do price matches or respond well to being insulted...

People seem to think that they're entitled to the same service and terms and conditions using the classifields as they are with a proper shop, it's mind boggling.

If you bought some second hand parts at a car boot sale or car show you wouldn't expect a returns warranty or anything would you, let alone a return without faults? Why is it expected on forums?

EDIT: is this guy for real? At any time did you state the dispatch time or when it would be posted? he has absolutely no ground to stand on here

I bought a strut brace for my 6n just before the gearbox died, I've made a loss on it, but that's life!

Edited by AMD_Man

no , its up to the buyer to make up thier mind before buying

would be differant if you hadnt sent them , but you have

To be honest the vote says it all, no refund, he just sounds like an idiot!

Clubpolo isnt a shop, was his choice to sell the car before putting the parts on, hense is now his problem, not yours. Just tell him if he sends them back he wont get a refund. because I can imagine he will send them back and then expect a refund.

i bought a grill off here for my mk2, never put it on and now the car is scrapped i'm not gonna contact the seller and say i dont want it. i'm just gonna sell it on with "scene" tax.

Well he turned down my offer (which i thought was very fair) of a refund minus my costs, so i've withdrawn that now and he's getting nothing!

although imo he shouldnt have a refund they can claim they've changed there mind

and according to the link below you have to give refund aslong as items returned in the same condition you sent it in

http://pages.ebay.co.uk/businesscentre/law...es/returns.html

bit crap imo
