Comments:

i picked this car up probably about December 2010 after a drunken late night browse through the for sale section on here. it had been for sale for a while and not had a lot of interest so i pm'd the seller a cheeky offer and a few days later we set off down to south Wales to collect it

it was at this point i realised i had no use for it lol, i loved the way it looked and i knew i had got a bargain as it had had a lot of time and money put in to it in the past and was in surprisingly good condition. i knew that i wanted to make this one into a keeper but i had enough on my plate car wise so it was tucked up in my lock up until i had more spare time

couple of random shots of it on the power techs before i started ripping it apart (that smoke is the HG begging for mercy

i've set my goal to have this on the road for the Stanford hall show so there should (hopefully) be a far bit of action this over the coming weeks :-D

EDIT: few pics to bring this first post a little more up to date with how the car stands now

Engine bay with 1.4 afh, still looks the same other than cold air feed through missing fog light and primered rocker cover

awesome. if its as good as some of your previous efforts you'll be onto a winner

looks really good, but i prefer mk2 dashes to mk3 dashes.

but it is very nice perfect colour for a coupe S

i'll be keeping my eyes on this thread as i <3 mk2's

Well cool! :)

Won't be the only black mk2 coupe at Stanford. I think yours will be in better condition than mine though!

I wouldn't mind putting a small CP stand on :)

Tidy!

Consider selling the hocks at all? PM me...

cheers for the great comments 8-)

leon i know what your saying about the dash, i wouldn't of gone through the effort of fitting it myself but seens as it's already there it'll be staying, plus i think it add's to the kinda 90's style it's got going on with it and to add to this i'm picking up some 15" tsw venoms for it tomorrow so i can swap to full on 90's spec as and when

mark i'd be up for the stand if you do one, even if this doesn't make it i will be there but in the mk3. not sure what condition yours is in but mine has had a big bit of the rear quarter resprayed matt black for some reason, this is one of the bits i need sorting but i doubt that will be done for Stanford :-(

martin they are on my mk3 and i need wheels on that so i can sell it once the mk2 is on the road (can't see any one wanting to buy a car with no wheels on it  ). although its not important that it gets sold on the hocks, just that it has some thing better than steels on it so if you have a set of alloys with legal tires on i would swap you if having a set of hocks was important to you?

I'm up for representing on the club stand! any excuse to take both mk1s to stanford hall :)

That sounds pretty much like mine except the matt pain on mine has cracked and crazed :)

collected these today

i've got some tyres to chuck on them and have a play with on the mk3 and see what sort of potential they have, i'm hoping that with the high offset of these i should be able to put the car on its arse with some suitable tire sizes on them, we'll see...

cheers dom good catching up with you again

lol, those venoms. Did dom clean them or you? they were in a hedge last time i saw um

I love the powertechs.

shame your missing the vital part.. carbs ;)

  • Author

he must of cleaned them toby, were they in the same hedge as the rest of his wheel collection?

carbs are a possibility in the future but for now i'm taking the easy route to get it on the road, must admit i'd like that noise in my life at point ;)

haha yeah, other than his BBS, all his wheel collections live there

Nice work mate, love them black

Any chance I could have the head off this if its a mechanical one?

off the original S engine? if so then yes its yours... how do i tell if it's mechanical?

It wont have the mk3 style 3 bolts holding the rocker cover on.

:)

Nice one mate, it will have 8 small bolts holding on the rocker cover instead of 3 large ones.

3 bolts on this one mate :-(

on a plus note tho i think this has the 'skinny' starter motor that is good for the 16v conversion, not really important now but will help me out in weeks to come :D

parts to rebuild the AFH should be here tomorrow and hopefully i'll get the polo back at my house over the weekend so i can start swapping the engines over. not much of an update but while i was updating the chevette thread i thought it would be rude not to do this one as well
