Not sure about the tca's as i'll be getting poly bushes for it soon and i'll see how they perform first

Think I need to start working on my maths so I can figure out what spacer I would need. Going off info on here I thought that the avy rods were 136mm and after some searching I found G60 rods were the same as this and would just need bushing, doubt has since been cast on the info I read on here tho and it seems the avy rods are 138mm. This has put an idea in my head (not sure if my thinking is even right but it makes sense in my head ) but shortening the con rods by 2mm while keeping every thing else the same would do the same to cr as fitting a 2mm decomp plate. Problem with this tho is it seems far too easy and I have to question why people that know a shit load more than me haven't phone it before

  • If I decide to go in I'll be leaving a trail of bread crumbs so I should be safe

  • Looking a little sorry for itself now its finally been dragged out from the garage its been buried for over a year

  • Gonna shorten the rear axle by 4" and fit space savers, should get the sort of tuck I'm aiming for

guy - can the piston go down a further 2mm into the cylinder bore? my guess is no! so thats more then likely why not

Trim 2mm off the bottom of the piston skirt

G60 rods are in the supercharged avy posted above but he has decked his block to bring it back in line then used forged pistons to drop the cr. So the rods themselves do work in the avy but no idea how well they work with the standard pistons. I just can't help put wonder what the cr would be with g60 rods, standard deck height and avy pistons or maybe afh pistons could be used to knock the cr back up a little if its slightly too low with the avy pistons.

Just general pondering tbh

Take more than 2mm off, lightweight y0

No room for a rad? naahhhhh

Good effort tubs

Pulled this out of the garage earlier, put the rear coilies back on, set the camber, chucked a gallon of Tesco's finest 99 Ron and took it for its first good blast in nearly a month. Forgot how much fucking fun it was

When pikeys set camber

TCA bushes are absolutely fucked tho, the throttle steers the car more than the steering wheel does :-(

TCA bushes are a cheap fix tho. get some poly items.

Or go all out and get some G-laderseit ones, along with arb blocks ;)

  • Author

TCA bushes should be sorted :-)

G laderseite blocks will be on the shopping list at a later date bit for now the home brew jobbies are doing the job

I'll be selling the ones off the breaddy when the coupe is done

But we wont go into a timescale for that

  • Author

If your selling a set of blocks then let me know and I'll probably have them off you, this is coming off the road soon so time scale isn't all that important tbh

Fair play.

I'm having to buy a new set for the coupe. cus i cba with the hassle of getting the tracking re-done on the breadvan after swapping to standard ones

Nearly went on the hunt for injection stuff the other day :ninja: Loosing motivation for the coupe, its just costing far too much compared to what i earn lol. Injection would be far cheaper, and i wouldnt have to spend about £300 on a RR. Eurgh :(

mann, even after having g lader blocks and having my car pretty low i still haven't had my tracking done  I'm so lazy haha. drives pretty straight though hmm

i wouldnt care if it was on steels with shit tyres. But its on my RA's with decent toyos. Cant be ruining them.

yeah I'm running contisports so not cheap either. haven't noticed any dodgy wear on them yet though

Not really given it a good run yet but took it round the block and it seems loads better

Wow hahaha, may explain you being scared of speed on way back from RR day :p

Proof that it wasn't just some bullshit excuse I came up with for not wanting to play

Car drives better than it ever has now, took it a blast round the lanes and it actually feels like the steering column is attached to the front wheels. could do with a G4tay steering damper tho to help with the torque steer, its not massively bad but its only going to get worse once the charger is fitted

You couldn't keep up mate don't lie hahahah ;) just had a little laugh about going the wrong way home & you being clueless!

Bushes make a huge difference to the feel of a car, just torquing them at ride height so there's no induced preload has an effect on ride and handling, so changing them from fully fucked ones should make a big difference haha!

May have a damper going spare guy. PM me if your interested

Caught up with this a few days ago - cool little project this, and it'll be a nutter with the Eaton :D

They weren't the bushes we were doing 100mph+ down santa pod are they?!:shock:

Looking great as usual, looks like a squashed black frog when it bombing up behind you in your rear view mirror too!

Cheers Alex 8-)

Si i'll have to see how things go, got to sort the problems that might stop it from making it to spring fest first and theni I can move on to stuff like that

These were the bushes that were in it the last time we were at the pod, these ain't the same ones that were in it when you and Matt took it down the strip at action tho because both Tca's were changed after that so that bush probably had about 6 months of use to get in that state

Thanks fuck lol, makes me feel a bit better.

Matts face when it started pulling us into the wall at 90mph odd

Not really an update about this car but it will have a bearing on it as I cut the number of motors I own down to two, here is my new ride

Picking it up on Friday and my fleet will now consist of just the polo and this (well as soon as the chevette is sold), can't wait to get it, feel like a kid waiting for Christmas
