Always a pleasure and never a chore olly

Mr mayhem this down pipe is for the polo, if the weather is nice at the weekend I'm hoping to be able to crack the welder out and get it fitted. If mother nature is good to me I might even get these wheels finished too but I'm not holding out a lot of hope

the sun always shines on the rightoeus guy

My Ronals are 7.5j man

Found a mop and had a little polish, I only used 1200 grit wet and dry those so the finish is a little dull compared to how I'd like it but I'm gonna have a search see if I have any finer stuff knocking about

Standard cut and laqured lip

And a roughly polished one

Still no where near finished just having a little play with the t-cut cause I'm bored

Arris 15's are bigger than I'm looking to go on this and I like a bit of dish. I do like your ronals tho just not what I'm looking for for this car

Took it to 1500 then to 2000, looks much better now although its quite hard to do justice with a phone camera in poor lighting, but...

Got a date with a tyre remover tomorrow night and then I can get the laqure off the rest of them and get them ready to tidy the lips up on the with them on the car at the weekend weather permitting

Coming along nicely mate!

And you need my fucking ronals, stop being a dick

Looking good man :) Nice work on the wheels!

Just read through the last 7 pages, need to check this more often, so much banter to go through

Also, being a noob with the compression ratio. Why do the AFH pistons raise the compression ratio?

Looking forward to seeing more progress on this ;d I'm tempted to hybrid mine!

Cheers mate 8-)

It's just the way the pistons are are designed mate although the only visual difference I've noticed is that the avy pistons have much deeper pockets for the inlet valves

Is the distance from piston crown to centre of gudgeon pin any bigger ?

Wheels look great guy!

Dude them wheels have come up awesome!! what polishing mop and compound did you use? I've been looning at some drill attachment types on ebay which would work well with the hub/lathe method  I think I'm gonna do the techs in pure white with a polished lip. what shows are going too this year? would like a nose around your car :-p

  • Author

Arris I did look at that but if it is then it isn't very noticeable by eye, iirc tho the avy postons seemed to have a slightly deeper bowl but again this was by eye so no accurate measuring equipment was used

Cheers maximus

Leggy i'll defo be at the polo show and I'm trying my hardest to be at vw action as well, any other shows are a bit hit and miss at the mo. The compound I used is a little known product known as t-cut, and the mop is a small-ish bench polishing mop nodded to fit a drill

Yeah little means lots with compression ratios though hey! :)

That's a fair amount of arch gap, you shouldn't be hitting the chassis leg by that point :?

However, rust protection

Wasn't sure how much damage was done but knew it wasn't good as I pulled up at a junction with smoke bellowing from under the bonnet and a strong smell of burning dinosaur left overs

Hahaha

Hmmm I think I'm gonna start collecting sumps!
